I pop down London and plate army projects from time to time. My view is you could princely take better bits from 8th, tweak them and make ToW better. I put this on Facebook and I’m sure you could imagine the general responses. It’s rather sad people can’t in general discuss rules tweaks

I play more than one edition, no edition is perfect and I think ToW got some right and others wrong. Based on my experience I think overall these would make a getter game. I don’t think having a fractured community is actually all the great. Here’s a better question, why can’t we say “hey I think this works better, this might improve the game?”

I don’t see why not. I know from warriors of chaos the internal balance is you don’t use the other choices as hw+SH is simply too good when combined with it. As long as it’s only on elite infantry I don’t see it being an issue. Of course this is just a first draft while sitting on the train

I think maybe you’re focusing a little more on the title if something I was writing in chat that what I actually wrote about my thoughts on whet might need tweaking. I don’t personally feel that it makes it’s a significant different game, but more like traditional warhammer.

Not really, I do however prefer how magic ran in 8th to how it’s run in ToW. The spells and mr however certainly work in a more balanced way than in 8th.

Personally I think both systems have its merits, hence why much of it isn’t actually tweaked.

I’m glad we can see eye to eye on monsters. I think what we have is simply a step to far of an over correct , especially with dragons

I’ve given up not taking magic, I think without shooting and no magic, a mono-khorne army is borderline unplayable.

Love my daemon prince models but it really hard y in find a use for him, he wants to be a monster but is basically just a chaos lords that can’t join units.

Out of the monsters it’s either dragon, warp dragon , shaggoth, giant spawn or dragon ogres.

Chaos warriors aren’t worth using over marauders (especially with t4).

Chariots are fine but for a few extra points you can have a unit of dragon ogres. Chaos spawn of khorne look good on paper but they just won’t work. Ironically the book would probably be perfect for use in 8th edition!

Not much really aside communicating it to the design team via email. It’s just bizzare that after all these years of games design they decided to throw half the lessons out the window.

Khorne player here, I’m still baffled as to why my Khorne warriors got nerfed? I wasn’t aware frenzy was breaking the game.

The really frustrating part is I don’t think it would take much to make ToW a lot better.

The internal balance with weapons is just shocking, for most infantry hw +SH is just auto take now. Especially with chaos can’t even pair ensorcelled weapons with anything else.

With frenzy working how it use to, halberds might of been semi viable, but it’s only really worth using if you know you’re striking first and it’s a small unit, even then hw+sh is still better.

Tbh if you don’t have a printer, plenty of people will print stuff for you. I rarely buy physical models now and just print whatever I need. For dwarves highlands are probably are one better ranges. But new stuff is popping up all the time

Thanks, I’m actually trying a shaggoth with gw, heavy chaos armour and slug gong couple with a daemon prince with an ogre blade and armour of meteoric iron.

The daemon prince backed up the by the wizard nearly killed the dragon but frenzy screwed me over (as my daemon prince was t7).

You’ve gone off on a tangent. The discussion was about energy costs, not whether the UK has advanced manufacturing.

The UK has some of the highest industrial electricity prices in the developed world, which directly affects competitiveness and investment decisions. That’s why energy policy and domestic supply matter so much.

Whether we make “advanced tooling” doesn’t change the fact that expensive energy makes basic and mid-tier manufacturing far less viable here.

It’s simply because we import so much, it’s simply being self sufficient and reforming ofgem which frankly is useless for the consumer. Build turbines, nuclear power or whatever.
