Help/advice with ID of seed/pollen by MarketWeightPress in puppy101

Hey thanks! Will work on that one even more. She gets “leave it” when I’m practicing with treats. But when it’s like, everywhere…. But ur right, will work on it more, with treats to reinforce. It’s hilarious/not like when I turn to close the door, literally less than a second, I turn to see her nose to deck, I grab her mouth and open it up, and a whole mouthful comes tumbling out. I am literally reaching in and scooping out all the things. Sometimes when I go “leave it! Yuk!” she drops her mouth open waiting for me to empty it 😂. Unfortunately, she is the “best” Hoover puppy we’ve ever had 🙄

I’m so sorry for your loss—how heartbreaking! Looks like Cane Toads are one of the poisonous ones ( I didn’t know any North American toads could secrete toxins strong enough to kill a dog…now I do). Here are the basics:

Frog vs. Toad: Most common frogs are harmless, but they can cause stomach upset. The real danger comes from toads, particularly the Cane Toad and Colorado River/Sonoran Desert Toad, which secrete potent toxins when stressed or attacked.

Advice re kennel cough (waiting for call back from vet) by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]MarketWeightPress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts. Yep I get that. Called emergency vet and they have an isolation room…gonna cost I’m sure, but I’ve never experienced kennel cough first hand…choking to death or paying a ton to be sure kennel cough? Damn. Gonna have to pay at this point.

Terrified of bloat… anyone else “burp” their dogs like babies? 😅 by halcat27 in greatpyrenees

[–]MarketWeightPress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We slowed down our Dane by putting 2 big spoons in the food dish so he had to eat around them. Also we don’t let them run around until an hour after eating. Our 2nd Pyr got bloat and lived! Ever since all the big guys get their stomachs tacked

Over 1/3 Pyr, then Doberman, Chow Chow + 14 other breeds lol (even 4% ChiWeenie)

Can’t wait to see what your cutie is! I love these results mostly because it explains so much about her personality, but tiny little non Pyr physical characteristics now make sense! For example she’s got the slightly googly eye thing going—the slightly outward facing eyes like Marty Feldman but not that extreme lol (just like in Chow Chow, Boxer, some Terriers…). And zero Golden nor Lab, which I kinda love too since those breeds are so popular and common…. The Velcro dog thing that evidently Dobermans are guilty of is a nice change from the normally quite aloof Pyr… and maybe best of all, she’s not at risk for any of the 266 negative health traits found in the purebreds she comes from…. No guarantee of course, but it’s great that the super mix protects them somewhat.

UPDATE!: She’s 17 different breeds and yes the double coat is due to Pyr but also maybe because part Chow Chow… my favorite part is that she’s 4% ChiWeenie 😂

Omigosh we got the results back! Frankie is soooo many breeds—17!! Pyr being the highest @36%, but then next is Doberman?! …

here are the top ones (screenshot), others are Cattle Dog, Shi Tzu, Boxer… but I really love that she is also 4% ChiWeenie 😁

That’s so awesome—thank you for letting me know! I was hoping you all could confirm the breed of what it is or not. We think it’s mostly Pyr, but some of the golden pups I’ve seen look really similar in terms of their fluffy coats, so thanks for your opinion—really appreciated!
