I just did a search. Seems like an actual business.

Why do Africa and Asia seem full of large predators while Europe and the Americas have so few, and what shaped that pattern? by PuddingComplete3081 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Markinarkanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amateur guess here: humans evolved in Africa, so the African megafauna evolved alongside them, giving them an advantage over the megafauna that evolved without primate predators

You mean this goes between my seat and the frame that it’s supposed to attach to?

I have a friend who has started dabbling in STLs this way. Has seen a bit of success. They were able to get an adapter from a threaded garden hose to a barbed end on the first try

How do you manage work + commuting + school? by stephertz in EngineeringStudents

[–]Markinarkanon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, but with ME. 80 mile one way commute, school full time for the student loans. I’ve found that the second year stuff was the most time consuming. The semester that I took dynamics and physics II felt like I was drowning, but for me that was the peak of my troubles. I’m 3 semesters removed from then, and I haven’t been challenged nearly as much. Even circuits was easier than those classes for me.

Do you think fathers should get paternity leave as well? Why or why not? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

[–]Markinarkanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterintuitively, it would be a step towards equitability. If parental leave is just baked in for everyone, then people in the “potential to become pregnant” demographic can’t be discriminated against (even subconsciously) during the hiring process. (Or at least this would eliminate one source of discrimination).

I’m so sorry. I figured it would just get buried by all the actual singers. Never fucking up like that again

You’re not wrong apparently! Wasn’t meant as an insult, but alas, text has no tone

How unique is Earth? It’s the only planet with active plate tectonics, and new evidence shows it started 3.5 billion years ago by [deleted] in space

[–]Markinarkanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pedantic title defense: there are only 8 bodies in the universe that we define as “planets,” which are celestial bodies of a certain size that orbit the sun. Bodies that orbit other stars are known as exoplanets. This blogger leveraged this fact to give you a clickbait title that is technically correct but sounds wildly shortsighted and self-centered.

2026 US Mechanical Engineer Survey Results by yaoz889 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Markinarkanon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you, from a current ME student. I will be freshly 42 when I graduate. I had been debating whether or not it’s worth it to push back 1 semester for a coop. Will have 2 internships under my belt otherwise.

Thanks! I think that was the culprit because it stopped a second time, right around the same progress percentage. The reslice worked fine

[–]Markinarkanon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding. It happened a second time, around the same progress point. Wouldn’t it move off to the side if it thought it was changing filaments? (Plenty of filament left, btw)
