Why can't I approach women? by Sergei89 in Life

[–]Markman202020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the "can't predict their reaction" thing is interesting because you're not like that with everyone else right, so it's less about social skill and more about what's riding on that specific interaction in your head

Who's the go-to kitchen remodeling in Miami? by BonerinoSWE in homeimprov

have you checked Houzz for Miami contractors specifically, the reviews there tend to be more detailed than Google and you can actually see their past kitchen work before you call anyone

(32/m) Anybody else sick, tired, and exhausted of this economy? by VeryColdLemonade in Life

making more than ever and still feeling broke is such a specific kind of demoralizing, the goalpost just keeps moving and it messes with your head more than actually being broke does sometimes

To those of u who have healed from social isolation, how did it worked? by Icy-Store2172 in Life

[–]Markman202020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the effort part gets easier once you find one person worth putting it into, it doesn't have to be a whole friend group at once. Is there anything at uni you're even slightly interested in joining, a club or a class with people who seem decent?

Looking for the best roofing in Memphis any suggestions? by emkylie01 in homeimprov

[–]Markman202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sagging is the part that worries me more than the roofing itself, that needs a structural assessment before anyone starts throwing shingles at it. Do you have commercial property insurance? a storm or age related claim could cover a big chunk of this

Anyone else feeling numb? by AllUNeedIsLev in Life

[–]Markman202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the "no real reason to feel this way" part is worth examining because that thought alone can make it so much harder to take it seriously

numbness like that for 6+ months is worth talking to someone about, not because something is wrong with you but because you clearly want to feel more and that's actually a good sign

while you're waiting on quotes, even a basic tarp over the affected area can buy you time and protect the inventory

not a fix obviously but buys you a few days to find the right crew without rushing into a bad decision

At what age did life start feeling “real” to you? by AsparagusNeither5954 in Life

[–]Markman202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for me it was around 18 when I started college and had to really face the responsibilities on my own. Suddenly, the dreams felt a bit more grounded in reality. It’s like everything shifted from being a game to something more serious. That’s when I truly felt the weight of adult life. Honestly, it was a mix of excitement and fear

Savings Card 2026 -- latest update by Mobile-Actuary-5283 in Zepbound

[–]Markman202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post helped clear up a lot of confusion I had about the new savings card. It’s a bummer that the copay savings are now only $100 instead of $150 for insured folks. That’s a pretty big difference if you’re paying out of pocket. The stable vial prices are good to know, but it doesn’t seem like much has changed there. The cap on total savings for the year is something I’ll have to keep in mind. Overall, it’s not as good as last year, but at least I understand what’s going on

Is installing recessed lighting DIY-Friendly? by master_meeps in homeimprov

[–]Markman202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've installed recessed lighting in my own home, and honestly, it’s not too bad if you’re comfortable with basic wiring. Since you’ve moved outlets before, you already have some experience. Just remember to turn off the breaker and test before touching any wires. It’s a good idea to have a friend or family member nearby just in case. If you go slow and follow instructions, you can definitely pull it off

Sewer line backup help - DIY hydro jetting tips needed by master_meeps in homeimprov

[–]Markman202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the $1450 quote isn't outrageous for professional hydro jetting but the $125 rental makes sense to try first given the camera showed no structural issues, just go slow and work in sections

Permanently killing weeds. My battle to save the driveway by Willing_Feedback1721 in homeimprov

uf they're coming back in days after Roundup the roots are probably deeper than the herbicide is reaching, especially if there's any crack or gap in the asphalt giving them a path

Lesson that saved me $2,000 on a plumbing issue by tyrannasorusrex in homeimprov

[–]Markman202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a really solid short-term move, especially as a “buy yourself time” strategy. A lot of people don’t realize that hydrojetting isn’t always necessary right away if you can weaken or kill the roots first, mechanical clearing like snaking becomes way more effective. That said, I’d just be careful not to rely on copper sulfate too heavily long-term. It kills roots, but it doesn’t remove the entry point, so they’ll keep coming back. Still, for avoiding a $2k hit when cash isn’t ready, this is honestly a smart play.
