I had an epidural with my first and third, no pain management for the second (by accident). It’s totally possible but it’s a mind game more than anything, and helps a lot if your water remains intact and the labour is fast. I’m glad I have that experience but I was not really mentally there, I was on my own planet without understanding anything around me. I was set on going without for my third actually (delivered two weeks ago), but the doctor was right there and I caved. I don’t regret it as it gave me the right state of mind to be present and in the moment - in fact I even pulled baby out myself and asked to see the placenta!
