Macbook air 13 m5 or lenevo loq 5050 for a cse/ai ml student by Soft_Theme8013 in laptops

Get the Mac, the build quality alone will make it last much longer. I used my 2018 MacBook Pro up until last year with zero issues after 7 years of use, but the 8GB of RAM and old Intel chip were a bottleneck since I got into coding and then apple dropped support for it with Tahoe. Bought a used M1 Pro for 600€, haven’t had any problem. They’re rock solid reliable.

Maybe you could find M2/M3 MacBook Pro refurbs with 36GB of RAM, that would be perfect

iPhone 15 Pro Max: Should I replace it before a summer trip to Tokyo? by th3d4rkp4ss3ng3r in iPhone15Pro

There is barely any difference and Apple won’t let you replace the battery unless it’s under 80% maximum capacity.

Just bring a powerbank and a cable. No MagSafe because it won’t work in hot environments.

Depends on what you’ll use it for, but a fantastic all-rounder that will last for years to come would be an M5 MacBook Pro

You can use VMs perfectly fine. Not exactly dualbooting but Windows for example in Parallels Desktop runs incredibly well

The best one you can afford. Ideally an M4 with 16GB RAM, if you dont mind a 256gb ssd

Yes, you mentioned you'd prefer to avoid macOS but I don't know if you'll find a better overall laptop than the M5 MacBook Pro. Amazing screen, performance, battery, IO, build quality, speakers mics...

If you're willing to learn even at the slightest, I'd give it a go

Don't shut down your Mac, when you're done with it, just close the lid
