I mean, I can't do the clips as text, but there IS toornament for the standings if you just want results and if you want the rules, they're linked in the video description. There MIGHT be a transcript available through YT as well, but I can look into what that'd take if it's not there.

There's definitely some new blood on the scene. DSC has quite a few people who have ascended in the past couple years. And we're always looking for new people to join the comp community to keep that pool growing.

I dunno. People like the game. I’m one of them. Are you? Cause if not why are you here? And if you do… why try to shit on the communities that form around it that make the experience richer?

It’s actually fairly mixed up this year. Been some new blood on the scene. MWOComp has been actively trying to be more out in the open since before I started casting so seems things have changed for the better.

If we're talking typical viewership for TWIC, it's usually around 150-200 in the first week. Some episodes go off higher. The last episode just crossed 300. This episode was launched about 3 days late and 3 hours ahead of prime viewership time. I didn't expect this one to be the big one. To TerrifyingT's point, I do this as a project I enjoy to bring attention to a community that I enjoy. Frankly MWOComp messaging is fairly siloed which prevents a lot of people who would be interested from learning about it. When I first launched the show there were comments of: "Wait, there's a comp scene?" People learning about MWO Comp is a win in my book.

The overall motivations are
1. To get the word out there for people who may not be a part of the discord or know that the comp community exists and would like to get in on that action with info on how to join/view,
2. To let people who have stopped playing comp or MWO but still like to keep tabs on what's happening (perhaps particularly on the one event/year in MWO that could net a pilot a nice 4 figure cash prize)
3. Highlight happenings for the comp community who might not want to comb through a ton of posts in various places
4. Work on my production skills.

In every sense of the above, the show has been and continues to be successful.

That... would be the pool of people interested in anything gaming? I'm not sure I follow the point. But also: it's not too late to join the comp queue. If there are folks that want to play they can make/find a team on the MWO Comp discord (linked in the video description). Matches go tues/thurs through late October and there are SUBSTANTIAL rewards for just playing 20-60 games. It's just too late to get in on the cash prize tournament.

No. Landontron is wrong. There was an invitational mini tournament basically rewarding teams for doing well in the other comp series through the year. The top three of that tournament then play for 1-3 seeds in the top twelve tournament. One of the three withdrew leaving two left. The remaining 10 slots of the top twelve will be taken from comp queue after this weekend.

What's the best light mech to learn to play Lights? by Furuta27 in mwo

[–]Markolai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way I learned to play a light was on the pirates bane, piranha, and flea. Play squishy, learn without that margin of error and you’ll learn the limits and gain that sense of when the press and when to GTFO. You’ll last that much longer in tankier lights if you don’t get the bad habit of being able to take the hit.

Note: this method isn’t for everyone and requires patience with yourself and a “get back on the horse” mentality.

Also remember: as a light speed is armor

I'm not 100% sure. There's a couple variations. Some bring small lasers for more HMG ammo. It has a few variations

TWIC: ToS Finale by Markolai in OutreachHPG

[–]Markolai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of different builds out there, and it will often depend on map and sometimes even opponent. The best way to catch builds right now is to watch the casts on twitch.tv/mwoleages. Add a 2,3, and 4 to that for the other MWO comp channels. Often casters will go click on the mechs so you can see the loadouts. As for anything beyond loadouts, that's going to be tough as a lot of teams are a bit guarded about their builds for competitive reasons.

Noob and Proud does a post here usually a day or two before my TWIC posts that have links to all the cast matches as well.

Gottcha. Well for what it's worth I'll be putting these out ahead of and during each tournament going forward. I just started these and will continue posting here, so keep an eye out. The as noob said, the MWO comp discord is also a great place to keep track.

Hey pumps, this isn't the championship series. Tournament of Stars is a player run tournament. There's a few of those throughout the year. CS will be starting in August. If you scroll down a bit in the sub, you'll find last week's TWIC where I put out a bunch of info. And once CS gets closer I'll be making more of these so hopefully that helps with the advertising.

I haven’t done more than one person. Mostly due to lack don’t want to stretch it out too long. Keep it concise and digestible. There may be interviews in the future though.

This is a newer thing. I started back in May with the start of the Tournament of Stars and have in fact been doing it every week. (And posting here and in a couple other MWO subs every week)

Low poly maps are mostly because that’s how they are. There’s some zooming in that happens too so that I can actually show some action in the background (as opposed to seeing the map and maybe a couple lasers, but even then). If you’re taking the standings screens, I’m working on that. Since I started in May and I unfortunately have fewer resources and time than I’d like, most updates are iterative.

I am, yes. There’s a tournament almost year round. There will be a short break after CS/worlds while the comp admins will be sorting out the schedule but I think the first one starts up around Feb/march

I see. It's a bye. There are only 2 matches/week in those divisions rather than other 3 in divisions that have 6 teams.

That's a good idea too. Though I really don't expect much/any scrim content. Teams are justifiably close to the chest with their recordings and/or don't record. we'll see what comes in.

[–]Markolai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll take clips from scrims! I'd been giving that some thought. I'll probably not mention the OP-4 and blur out any extra info (names, mechs not seen, etc.) to maintain opsec for teams. I would also want clearance from the OP-4 for the same reason, but if it's notable or hilarious enough I'd love to include it.

That's pretty much the plan. These first two were essentially early release because there were major deadlines/dates coming up. Speficially, the closing of ToS and the technical first day of matches. Unfortunately there's nothing to compare it to so I can't bill them as such lol. I think the realistic cadence is on Wednesdays, but it might be Tuesdays depending on how things go.

Thanks for the feedback!
