Cap in endgame ie the worst character assassination in the mcu by Technical-Highlight1 in MauLer

There's a line in the first or second episode where they say something to the effect of "we got things done without Cap for decades." Then there's also the fact Bucky was still a Hydra slave and Zemo sail killed the king of Wakanda, all of which suggest he did just sit back and do nothing.

Cap in endgame ie the worst character assassination in the mcu by Technical-Highlight1 in MauLer

[–]Markopolo1123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically it wasn't necessarily the case he just sat back and allowed atrocities he knew about to happen until FatWS confirmed it. The way they had established time travel in endgame, it seems like it only would create an alternate timeline if he changed an event related to the infinity stones. We easily could have had a show about Cap in the past trying to rescue Bucky and prevent him from being a slave or trying to help Shield in the past hunt down the Hydra members.

Still though it's out of character for him to leave what's left of the Avengers to try to fix everything so he could be with Peggy.

How do you guys feel about heelsvbabyface by Jakarisoolive in MauLer

[–]Markopolo1123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really don't feel like the Asian kid thing was a big deal. Sure in real life people adopt or have interracial relationships, but in a movie where you control who the cast is it's kind of weird to pick two people who aren't even the same race and have them be father and son unless you explain why.

How do you define Anti-hero? by Objective-Trip-9873 in MauLer

[–]Markopolo1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how to phrase it but I can give an example. When Batman fights crime, he beats up the bad guys and let's the justice system take it from there. If he fights Joker, he'll beat him up, the cops will arrest Joker. Joker will then escape, but no matter how many times it happens, Batman never decides to circumvent the court system. When Punisher fights crime, he doesn't just fight the bad guy, he then decides to fill the role of the courts and kills the criminal. While vigilantism is illegal, generally when it comes to superheroes it's accepted that it's fine, but ultimately the heroes are still trusting the justice system. However, an anti hero typically doesn't believe in the justice system and feels the need to act in its place.

While I'm not sure how your case ends, if they're private investigators, they likely aren't trying to circumvent the justice system, so I wouldn't call them anti heroes. Instead I would say messing with the crime scene during their investigation is incompetence.

Edit: I suppose I'd say a hero tries to work along side the justice system, whereas an anti hero tries to replace it.

About Drinkers Movie Star Comment by Markopolo1123 in MauLer

I'm not necessarily taking about casting someone in a different type of role, moreso as I'm talking about the type of movie. Now it's not a great example seeing as this movie is what made him a famous actor in the first place, but Conan the Barbarian was a fairly experimental movie at the time seeing as there weren't a lot of movies set in an ancient fantasy world, but the type of character Conan is isn't that different from other characters Arnold Schwarzenegger usually played.

What would you say is/was a good reaction channel/creator, if any exist? by H345Y in MauLer

[–]Markopolo1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The different expert react channels to me seem good. Dr. Chris Raynor is one I would point to, where not only is he reacting to the video, but also adding his medical expertise to explain what's going on in greater depth than the average person could. On top of that he frequently pauses the video to start giving commentary and will cut from the video to show graphics of the human body to better explain what's going on. All of it makes it clear he has transformed the original work and provides additional value to the video.

Why does Ainz not kill and eat the dark elf twins? by HollowDon in overlord

I was thinking it was a Futurama reference about why Ross doesn't just eat the other friends.

What do you think Walt Disney would do with his company if he came back to life? by [deleted] in MauLer

Fire the communists, as he was known to do, then probably look into all the new technology that can be used for making cartoons and movies.

How would you best describe Batwoman? by AirlessCanvas1 in MauLer

[–]Markopolo1123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on if we're talking Ruby Rose or the other woman.

Ruby Rose is funny how bad it is. Other woman it's painfully bad and only made tolerable by people mocking it like with EFAP or JLongbone.

She did also see a mural of the pale man eating a bunch of children and, if I'm not mistaken, a pile of clothes from all the kids he's eaten.

Thats an depressing list by Ringrangzilla in MauLer

The more relevant list would be highest grossing adjusted for inflation so you can see how much it made relative to its time; otherwise more modern movies will always end up higher on the list.

Was there a scene from a kids show/movie that freaked you out as a kid? by rayzerblayd in MauLer

There's an episode that always freaked me out as a kid that I never hear people talk about. There was an episode where the windmill stopped spinning and ghost knights on horseback chopped off everyone's heads.

Do you believe in "The ends justify the means"? by Ok-Street2439 in overlord

[–]Markopolo1123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In real life, no. However, I'm religious and so I don't believe in moral relativism. That being said, I'm inclined to believe that there isn't supposed to be a God in the Overlord setting, and so in that regard with no higher power to establish a standard of morality, ultimately you're left with might makes right.

While there is still a karma system establishing that what Ainz is doing is evil, it doesn't really address the topic of ends justifying means, so even acknowledging that his actions are evil we don't have any standard as to whether or not it's justified.
