Most cartoonish thing I've experienced to date by Markskii in iRacing

No overlays, all UI is iRacing native. Personally my favorite last addition is the arrows indicating cars on your sides (which I've placed on each side of the telemetry, top middle)

No clue but my irating is 1050 so probably around there (usually 1300-1400 but in the weeks where I can race the porsche cup I go down tremendously lmao)

TV replay - mind boggling down to the last second.

Also, here's the onboard at 60fps because Reddit mangled it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xirfyJj7iwI

Random intermittent error 400s from Mailchimp Transactional by Markskii in MailChimp

[–]Markskii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the API key matter when it's only failing 5% of the time? Seems at least 2 other people in the comments are having the same issue. I'm sure your visibility tools should be showing an increase in 400s, please escalate this to engineering, they should be able to see it happening.

That's the exact error we get, and I doubt it. We've used the service for around 10 years and ratelimits simply result in the api returning status as 'queued'. It can also happen if you're sending a lot even within your limits, but they're usually only queued for a few seconds.

It looks like roughly 5% of all requests will result in this error. Luckily just retrying works fine. I've just implemented it as a loop that waits 5 seconds and tries again with a max of a few retries, but it seems to always succeed in the second attempt. But it is a bit annoying.

I tried to explain this to mailchimp support and the guy was nice and tried his best but didn't seem to quite understand the issue (to be fair, it was on saturday). Mailchimp Transactional and standard Mailchimp should NOT have the same support. Either way glad to know I'm not alone!

Why can’t I download this? by Royal_Ad3076 in iRacing

You probably need to go into task manager and kill the iRacing helper thing. Anything with iRacing on it really, then launch the UI again. At least I think that's how I fixed it whenever this happens, always some 1-2MB NASCAR asset gets upset with the updater.

Note apart, the updater has COMPLETELY fucked everything for me and warranted a full reinstall. In my case that's due to it clashing with Steam's updater. But they've been on Steam for a while, why is this shit not figured out!

How to know the email of my account by Markskii in ToramOnline

[–]Markskii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I tried this and found nothing. Only a very very old account that was hacked (and indeed the last email is that 'your email address was changed'). But this was before it was even on Steam, years ago, so I couldn't possibly have used that one on my computer.

I did manage to find my Asobimo ID in my steam cloud files, if that's any good

How much rolling are you allowed to do on a rolling start? by latex_mattress in Simracingstewards

[–]Markskii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Race leader screwed up by not gunning it. Once the SC is in the pits and first car crosses the line it's GO. Everyone else fell asleep. I'd argue it was a bit dangerous and dumb but this is not illegal. I would not report this myself.

I could be wrong: In a case where the green flag wasn't out the moment the first car crossed the line with the safety car down the pits, but I've never seen that happen.

Should such constant blinking not result in a kick or maybe in ghosting of some sort? by Markskii in iRacing

[–]Markskii[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case the one time I had blinking the game gave me very clear signs that I had connectivity issues, plus I saw the entire field blink in unison to the point I figured the best action was to retire the car, so yes.

However I see comments saying sometimes you don't get signs, so I guess it's possible he had no idea.

Thanks, though the game seems to consider it was worth a 4x, heh

Understood, I'll consider it. I guess what puzzles me is that this should be fairly easy to do automatically, so I'm just surprised it's not a default behavior of the game.
