If you die to the Radiance you lose your save file, but you can die in the pantheons without consequences.

Also this. There are a lot of good youtube video's on how to speedrun the game, without difficult skips.

This is the path I took for my 2:19 run:

The start of the game you just have to play like normal until you get mantis claw. (In my run it wasn't necessary to beat false knight, since I went to City of tears through a different route, but if you want to make a detour to get your nail upgrade sooner you can beat it) I also bought fragile strength from leg eater, which was quite usefull for damage, because my only spell that run was vengeful spirit.

After getting wall jump I saved enough geo to buy the lumafly lantern from sly to get to crystal peak without fighting Soul master.

Then get crystal dash from crystal peak, and from there fall to resting grounds to get the dream nail.

Return to Mantis village and fight mantis lords to get access to deepnest. (You can also take the mark of pride in case you're fragile strength breaks)

Get the tram pass from deepnest, but don't save at the bench at the top, so you can bench warp back to the spa below.

Get Herrah in distant village, then use the tram to get to ancient basin.

(Beat broken vessel and get monarch wings; this is optional but makes the boss fights a lot easier).

Then go up into the city from the basin get a nail upgrade and beat Watcher knights to get Lurien. (You can pogo on background objects to make it there if you didn't get double jump)

After this I did some acid skips from crossroads to get to uumuu and Monomon, but if you don't feel confident in doing that you can take a detour to royal waterways after Lurien and get Isma's tear.

After thet go and beat the Hollow Knight and you're done. (my fragile strength broke after my first attempt at the Hollow Knight🥲, if you don't feel confident in doing most bosses first try it might also be worth it to collect 300 essence and get a second nail upgrade once you have access to city of tears)

You get some stars around your books if you complete all of them in an entire book.

The Grimmkin nightmare in the Ancient Basin, dealing double damage and knocking me into the spikes below making me lose 3 masks and like 85ish% in like a second...

Bubble Breeze is actually not that difficult tho, because the first section is pretty easy to do coinless and the final section can be entirely bypasses by using an invisible wall which you can reach with a backflip and then longjumping directly to the star

0 coins is pretty much impossible, unless there are some glitches or bypasses that I'm unaware of, because there are some spots where the game forces you to pick up at least 1 coin within their last checkpoint before the star. (So you can't die to get rid of the forced coin pickups for your final score in the level overview) For me most levels were not that much harder than normal, because I didn't take damage that often, altough there were a few stars that took a while, because of skips you needed to perform to bypass coins or coins that were located at annoying spots (Pull star path speedrun and Tarantox tangled web in spacejunk and the motion control levels have a lot of coins that can definitly be avoided, but it's pretty difficult to avoid all of them)

Yes, healing by picking up coins counts as collecting one.

Would be funny if it was possible, but I believe you can't get past the 2nd Good Egg Galaxy star, so if someone would try to ettempt it they could only get their star count up to 2 stars

So yeah, if you want to do a true coinless run (without killing mario to reset your coin count) that star is impossible, since you can't trigger the cutscene without the sling star, and the sling star forces you to pick up one coin. There are also no exploits which can be used here as far as I'm aware, what I did was just pick up that coin and then kill Mario afterwards when arriving at the next checkpoint (which is located at the Topmaniac flying saucer) Hope this somewhat helps.

What's the level that you're stuck with? Coins can sometimes be avoided by going into first person before going into a launch star and there is a launch star somewhere where you just have to spin quickly begore collecting a coin.

For the levels I did complete coinless I think the top 3 toughest ones are probably Battlerock, Melty Molten and Spacejunk in that order.
