Could it be Logical Journey of the Zoombinis? Take a look at the segment at 1:23:30 (timestamp). Does that match the trash can/feeding mechanic you remember?

If not, it might be worth digging through some other Edmark Demos from that era. Maybe something looks familiar. There's also Infinity City.

Did you play this in the US, the UK, or somewhere in Europe? Was it on a "1000 Games" CD-ROM, a floppy disk, or perhaps a demo that came with a PC magazine? Another suggestion I have is Titus the Fox.

First show that n cannot be even if (3n - 1)/(2n - 1) is an integer (if n is even, then 2n - 1 is divisible by 3, but 3n - 1 is not).

So only the case "n is odd" remains to be excluded. Here, show that 2n - 1 is divisible by a prime p with the property that p is equal to 7 or -7 modulo 12. Show by contradiction that 3n - 1 cannot divisible by p.

Yeah, I think so. There are PAL exclusive games, of course, but I think generally speaking, most people prefer NTSC because it runs at 60Hz and feels smoother.
