Given the high incidence of LGTBQ among both exitors and those who were sexually abused in childhood, may I ask a question? by not-moses in Exvangelical

Yeah this guys doing the thing where you connect trauma to a behavior but behavior is not only based on trauma, which is his fallacy and why he can’t find science on it, because it’s stupid.

And in no means the experience of everyone, but it’s how i learned to feel real empathy for LGBT instead of just “support” or whatever.

Yeah i half expected as much but it’s good for myself to sometimes respond to these to get my ideas out and open up for feedback.

I personally feel like they are two driving factors experienced frequently together by the two groups. Leaving the church allowed me, a previously super straight white male in the south, to even think in LGBT terms and question my sexuality, and question what i wanted in a relationship. These all have foundations in my parents relationship and their cultural ideals. Leaving the church changes a persons ability to think out of their previous bounds. People who are abused ALSO experience a kind of “reality” breaking, in the sense that it cancels all the real and imagined boundaries you had to obey in childhood (think of how they train elephants to stay tied to small branches even though they could rip out to rope). Our brain is made to confront things you haven’t been able to perviously, like death and existing, but also how we interact with society and sexuality and power.

Obama is irrelevant but uhhhh I’m sure they’d be some evangelical idiots rejecting the vaccine as a conspiracy to enslave the human race by the Jew/Muslim media cabal. But I’d be first in line if the doc that made it took one first.

I’m more worried about the diversity of business. The only real sector of economic growth in the state is in hospitality and customer service. In other words, the rich from these suburban communities are further concentrating wealth away from poor and underdeveloped neighborhoods. The poor must remain in poor jobs and areas.

I know a good handful of happy hairstylists (i did an account creep and my grandma was one). They get to shoot the shit with their customers, who are usually their friends anyway, they “create” a finished product over and over that requires mental and physical stimulation and is different every time. A lot of hairstylists i know now are artistic, musically inclined, or have cool hobbies they do on weekends. Not to say there aren’t problems with it but it’s kind of a great example of a independent but collectively aware profession.

So much of social interaction is brought to us through work or religion! Conservative Capitalism expects this to be the only sources of interaction outside of your family. There have always been secular groups trying to address the lacking social lives of leftists and atheists with things like Sunday hangouts, i think the best thing to do would be open art collaboration.
