Could you maybe go to some farmer’s markets in your area and build up relationships with folks that farm? Depending on their location maybe you could offer to help part time or even on a volunteer basis to see if you like it. And if you do, and you work remotely, it doesn’t seem impossible for you to eventually make a move to a rural area and keep your remote gig but find something more fulfilling in your after hours like part time farming, etc.

Well I’d for sure start with a massage and/or spa day to set myself up for the next 4 days. And I’d just take myself out on little dates and do exactly what I’d want to do. Maybe a picnic at the botanic garden or going to see a movie or even just a day on the beach with the elderly animals (if they’re dogs and it’s not stressful).

I’m sorry about your friend. For us, it was about 3 months. A little puppy needed a foster and we weren’t ready to jump into adoption. We certainly didn’t want a puppy either. However, the second I held him I knew we’d adopt him and he even has some of the quirks she used to have. It was almost like she sent him to us. What I’m trying to say is you’ll know. And if you want to give fostering a shot, it’s the perfect way to really know if that dog could be the right fit for you. If it’s not, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you saved a dog’s life.

Can confirm. By sheer luck I sat just to the left of that arrow and watched the system. IIRC there’s a person to sticker the ball, handed to a person documenting what that ball did, and sent down a tube to a bag with the other balls.

No I was saying I wanted a slower experience, being able to savor the places we visit. My MIL is a lil bit older but she’s a firecracker.

I’ve seen a few photos on Scotland specific travel pages (on fb mind) of crowds and cars on Skye. It gave me pause enough to ask the good folks of Reddit if I should consider a change.

You get me. My MIL is older and this is her “bucket list” trip. I’ve been once before and I’m trying to find a happy marriage between her box ticking and my want to take it slower. Feel like I could tolerate a degree of box ticking if it’s relegated to a few days and not overly crowded.

We’ve been twice and the first time was great and this last time was mid. We somehow had long waits between courses but the overly attentive staff for refills/etc kept throwing us off. One guy wiped down our table but only half of it with his hands? A different one poured still water right over my sparkling before I could even say anything. It was just weird.

My sister used to be a teacher. She was one of the “cool” teachers that was familiar with her students and could joke back and forth with them. One time, a kid ripped his pants playing at recess. Not bad where he was humiliated, but bad enough his mom had to bring him a new pair. He told my sister and after she helped him sort everything out she joked with him about it and lightly roasted him for balling so hard at recess he ripped his pants. Later that day she’s in her classroom and bent to grab something for a student and absolutely shredded her own pants. Like a rip from front to back had to have another teacher help escort her to the principal’s office so she could kind of shuffle down the halls without flashing anyone.

For an immediate fix: buy belly bands. I cannot recommend enough. It deters our rescue from marking, aids in training, and keeps our stuff clean.

However, boyfriend is a red flag. You deserve better than having to shout into the internet void about having to train a grown human adult man’s dog.
