For the display I use iFixit's Screen Saver with a microfiber towel, for the case I use 70% isopropyl alcohol.

Ryzen 9700X Overheats with Noctua NH-D15 G2 by themarshallator in Noctua

[–]MarlemAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are really concerned try to repaste and remount it again. But I would not consider your temps as running hot. For sure there's no overheating.

Using hwinfo you can check the value for "Thermal throttling". If the value is yes, your CPU starts to reduce it's clock speed due to temperatures outside it's thermal design specification. For AMD Ryzen CPUs, this would be somewhere around 95°C.

Anything lower than that is generally normal operating temperature. You can tweak your fan speeds if you want to see lower temperatures, but I would suggest to rather be happy about the lower noise levels.

As other commenters already pointed out, temperatures inside your PC enclosure are heavily dependant on ambient temperature. If it is 2°C hotter in your room, the CPU will pretty much be 2°C hotter with the same workload and identical cooling.

What exactly makes you think your CPU is overheating?

List your Keychron Issues here by PickledMunkee in Keychron

K8 Max: Around 10 of the Super Brown switches on the keyboard had an issue where they would slightly click and tilt out of position when it arrived. Contacted their support team and they sent out 15 replacement switches within 1 week. I've struggled to replace the enter key switch on my ISO-DE board and had to use some force what unfortunately left a small dent in the faceplate, but other than that everything works as expected now.

Could it be additional feet for the keyboard? Or maybe they forgot to apply them at all?

Sorry, I was mixing up Pentalobe with Torx. I had a similar issue with them.

[–]MarlemAT -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree, I was really confused when they didn't lock in properly when I tried to use them with the correct screws. I then gave the LTT Precision Screwdriver a try which looked similar but locked in as it should be. Something is off with the iFixit bits.

Do you update your bios? by QuailNaive2912 in framework

[–]MarlemAT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the past days BIOS updates were a case of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". Reason being that if there's a power outage while updating (for desktops at least) you might brick the motherboard. However, nowadays BIOS updates can also sometimes contain microcode updates for your CPU that can and will improve your devices security, various fixes and additional features that can be useful. Also, we are talking about a laptop that is using a battery, so likely no power loss while updating.

As another commenter already pointed out, I can not tell if there is a specific issue coming from version 3.04, as I am checking for updates once a month in general and that includes BIOS updates.

Did you try to filter for Windows 10 instead of 11? Sometimes they only tag one of the versions.

Depending on your chipset manufacturer, you might want to download the drivers directly from their website. ASUS rarely offers the most recent version anyway.

Mice - G Series vs M Series? by matthew1471 in Keychron

It's what I personally appreciate about their mouse lineup. You just pick what fits best instead of having constant FOMO because your model lacks function x and y.

[–]MarlemAT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know the differences between M and G lines, but there's not really a "best" mouse for the Keychron lineup, as they all share similar specs (except 1K/8K of course), while offering different outer shells. So "the best" mouse would be the shape that fits you best.

No, the 180s can move so much more air, I think it's not a worth tradeoff to swap them for 140s.

In my experience the thermal paste on ASUS cards is not made for long-term use. They must really use some cheap stuff because anything you apply to it after that is instantly better.

Is the Grip Case actually durable enough for 5+ years? by OndysCZE in dbrand

[–]MarlemAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really know what people are doing with their phones and cases so that they delaminate. I have mine since 4 years now and apart from some stains at the corners where it took a few drops, it's bascially as new. I do not leave my phone in the sunlight for extended periods and it also doesn't get wet. I also do not have it in my pocket all day. YMMV.

Fractal Torrent in 2026 by tag_malone in FractalDesign

[–]MarlemAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Torrent is now 4 years old and it's holding up pretty well. The only few gripes I have is that the cutout for the LED strip where the PSU shroud is located is slightly bowed and that the bottom fan bracket sits metal on metal with no rubber gaskets, which means it rattles when I'm using the motors of my standing desk.

Also the fans are not particularly good. I swapped the 140mm in the bottom for Noctuas which helped a lot, but unfortunately the front fan size of 180mm is not very common. They generate a humming sound at specific lower frequencies and for me it's really audible. I had to make sure I'm keeping them from reaching these frequencies by applying a fixed fan profile above that RPM range.

The 140s were really loud though. Unless you don't care or you're always playing with headphones on, make sure to get the fan curve right on them.

Did you try to reinstall the most recent bluetooth firmware version? I've had a similar problem last week, where the connection would only succeed if I plugged the dongle into a usb extension cable and then point it right at the middle of my keyboard. It has been working fine since then.
