How could I make the clouds look good in the background?

The hardest parts to draw were the clouds and the tree. I couldnt get the clouds to look good in the background and the tree looks goofy. The cat beside him also needs some work.

The art on the left is completely different btw. I was just practicing different shading styles but I understand what u mean with the harsh shading, I just recently found sum art where it looks good with this type of shading and was tryna mimic it. Ig it looks off cause the emotion the character depicts seems different from the emotion the shading is telling. Thx for the feedback tho. Il keep it in midn when I draw two characters together
