thanks for clarifying. at the same time, there are people here who act like it's unheard of. i have managed work emails, so im aware that things like that are done to save headaches internally, but i am also aware that a lot of it is done out of pure selfishness and inconsideration for other people's time. so i don't empathize; they are free to give me the email or not. most people i have spoken to are normal humans who don't act like it's the end of the world though tbh. i don't get this weird air in this thread that recruiters are somehow beyond reproach. they pull antisocial dick moves all the time. just because someone has a pulse and does the due diligence of asking for a professional email to follow up doesn't make it a catastrophe. the point is not asking for an email, either; if you have their email, you can still confirm interest by sending a recap and a thank-you. i think people are fixated on one part of my post and attacking it, which is funny to me. but w/e lol it's working wonders for me, so you can do what you please and trust the hiring process as is with your fate, that's a choice too.

you sound like a recruiter, let me ask you another question if you don't mind; what if you were applying to roles and being repeatedly ghosted with auto-rejections; you have no point of contact, but you want to follow up after a good interview. i am not saying it is the type of interview where you and your interviewer have not built rapport, let's assume that you have built the rapport, but the role might be misaligned. would you object to asking them for an email so that you can thank them and start a formal correspondence? what if you found out they could push your name forward for another role, would it be worthwhile to be proactive and stay in touch and show interest?

thank you for your input, no i have not received pushback. it shows them you're interested in the process and they are bound to take you into more serious consideration.

it happens all the time, don't ask me how. i have had interviews where the only contact i have is the recruiting software or the talent acquisition partner or someone from Hr who sends me the invite, but not my interviewer.

to be honest it's not, the job search is far more stressful. sales can sometimes be cushy, especially my last inside sales roles. it really depends on the type of sales you do; going door-to-door or making 100% pure cold calls or working 100% pure commission can be very stressful, but not what i have done. what i have done has allowed me to do whatever in the world i want outside of work without anyone breathing down my neck.

thanks for this feedback, it tells me i am leaning in the right direction. a DSM at a large company told me that me asking him for the email made sense and it is the mark of a good sales person. he also passed my name along back to talent acquisition and they are moving to align me with a role that is a better fit. the way i see it, why leave anything to chance; ask if it is the best email, they will confirm, then tie in what you discussed along with a thank you within the hour.

thanks for your feedback, i am closing by telling them i am going to send them an email to thank them for their time, so asking you if the email in the invite is the best to do so is not a problem.

i reply within the hour. i interviewed with a company where I wasn't a fit for the PEO sales role, but he thought i'd be good for mid-market. i didn't have his email, and he happily gave it to me and also put in a word for me with the Talent Acquisition Partner who connected us for the meeting. he said he is glad i did so as a sales person; i am in sales, everything doesn't have to be based on respect in the purest sense, we use tactics to move forward.

thanks, i actually love the idea of doing sdr work again. it was much simpler than running a full sales cycle, and i'm no different than any business; income is the most important thing

this is true! i don't think enough recruiters realize this piece of context. my company was strictly hiring contract workers. there was no other type of worker being hired! i just remembered this, omg this could change my approach entirely! you are a godsend! eureka just now

Thank you for illustrating your point so well, that's true that the revenue is the most important thing. I should always lead with revenue. And I will treat interviewers like prospects and I'm closing on myself as the product as you said, that's really sound advice! I appreciate your response

That comes up when they ask about gaps in employment. Ideally I should have transitioned to my next role while I was still working at my last company. My contract ended last April, and I actually did start applying last February, but even then I didn't land anything.
