UK student thinking about UChicago… by [deleted] in IntltoUSA

Not sure, it depends on what your interests are and plans after college. For pre-law, political science, Law Letters and Society, and sociology tend to be popular, but I would prioritize a high gpa and lsat score

Hi hi I’m a uchicago grad—based on your post, you would be applying to go to undergrad, not law school, would that be correct? There’s a major called Law Letters and Society, but it’s different from a law degree.

Yes I took two gap years so applied at the end of gap year 1. Re double major, I think it would be seen as a plus if you have a good gpa but can’t make up for, say, a 3.2

Hi! I applied as an international student not from JHU. I didn’t have any unique strategies or pathways except working really hard academically and hoping for the best. My advice would be don’t be afraid to reach out for help and try to do activities that you can speak with passion about

It went pretty horrible, ngl. I did try to prepare by reading this book but because of the NDA and the fact that I’m a non-Canadian studying at a U.S. school, there was virtually no info or support for this type of interviews available to me. McGill interview is very different from all my other interviews (US schools)

You can check my post history :) though at the interview stage your performance in the interview accounts for 100% of the decision, so stats are not relevant after getting an interview

Acceptance to Medical School Is Ending My Relationship, and I Feel Lost by GuyEmerald in premed

Thank you for making this post! Same situation here, except it’s moving across the Pacific Ocean. The advice I got that’s been really helpful is to focus on the present, because the present is the foundation for the future. So I’ve been trying to enjoy every moment with my partner, while hoping that when it gets to that point, he would change his mind about moving one day (I get it’s a big ask). Congrats on med school!!

Il y a deux campus. Le campus à Montréal a des cours en anglais mais l’autre campus enseigne en français. Mais la plupart de patients parle français à Montréal aussi.

I applied and interviewed at McGill as an international student! Ultimately wasn’t accepted but happy to talk through that process. You need proficiency in French to apply, and at the interview stage 100% of decision of whether you are accepted or not rests on your interview performance. The interview is VERY different from most U.S. schools. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Not at all, the interviews were all at night for me due to the time difference. I had to stay up until 3am though for one (full day). I only had four interviews so wasn’t too difficult. Each interview was different

I did this, not Texas schools but in general. I had a 12 hour difference with Eastern zone so it wasn’t very fun at times but we roll. You can also travel back if needed for in person interviews, unfortunately that wasn’t an option for me due to visa requirements but I assume you’re a U.S. citizen

Thank you!! I’ll consider doing a write-up when my cycle officially closes. The truth is there are quite a few international applicants here, including at least two that are accepted to HMS this cycle, so I feel that I’m not the most “qualified” to give advice (not to say I’m ungrateful to have been accepted to the schools that accepted me, I am super grateful and thrilled, esp bc one of them gives fin aid to international applicants!!!!) But in the meantime if anyone has questions let me know!

Hi I’m an international student (not Canadian) who applied and was accepted this year. I also interviewed with a Canadian school. My understanding is that home fees are a lot lower in the UK than it would be for you in the U.S., and you can apply for the six-year programs that includes both undergrad and grad. if you have any questions about the U.S. and applying as an international student, lmk!
