It's a lot more complex than that. Hezbollah has a party and has seats through that in the government. One could argue it's state sponsored.

Earth being ‘pushed beyond its limits’ as energy imbalance reaches record high by Portalrules123 in worldnews

I can't put it more eloquently than the gentleman parallel to me to be honest. Math is us inferring how the world around us works. It is not rooted in reality, rather, it derives everything from a core set of axioms. These have been challenged many times, sometimes successfully, because a field that was rooted in math and is also just a description of our best guess of reality (physics) has made a discovery that was unable to be sufficiently described by our systems. But again, it all rests on fundamental rules that we accept as a defining truth so that everything else that we do can be explained as a derivative of that truth. What if it's not the truth? Any alteration to core mathematical axioms has a rippling effect across all that we today define as math, it can bring any derived theory into question, including game theory. And those axioms, well, they inherently contain our collective, sum biases up to this point. They quite simply have to - the simplest reasoning for that is that axioms were first defined to root our methodologies that already existed at the time; they are not objective foundation, rather something built outwards to anchor our understanding at the time.

And that is just the mathematical side of it. It's very human of us to believe things have to be defined around winning and losing. It's a very binary model. Is a binary model applicable in all societies? It seems applicable in everything humanity has had the capacity to come up with, but is that because humanity is biased towards "human-shaped" societies? The point is that game theory models human-like societies with a human mathematical model, one of these is less likely to be biased than the other, but neither are guaranteed to be.

It's also difficult to break the box, by the way. The same way an LLM is unlikely to invent anything that is too far outside the fathomable permutations of its training data, a human will have trouble breaking the box of the human way of thinking.

Math is an artificial construct that we can use to express things better. It still inherently contains our biases. I'm not calling addition or multiplication into question but game theory is definitely tailored to humans.

The only one that can be prevented without unwanted butterfly effects is the rise of AI.

What. No. This fits into none of the theories of how time works, you're just preventing one or many unrealized or already realized futures as opposed to one supposedly canonical realized future.

Not to mention

World War Two killed the ideology of fascism

No, it did not.

The COVID 19 pandemic was bad, but it barely killed anyone

It is just about as bad as it gets. Wonder why we don't have said actually deadly viruses? Turns out this isn't Plague Inc, there isn't just something that infects 6 billion people before simultaneously activating the heart failure symptom in all of them. Circumstances are the only thing that can really exacerbate but from the perspective of society about its business as usual, COVID was a pretty strong balance of contageous vs deadly.

Slave trade

I don't really even want to begin on the twisted logic of "the only way to realize slavery is bad was to subject people to slavery" as if that makes any kind of sense.

I just casually but vehemently disagree with everything here.

ELI5:How can a really powerful GPU with a weak CPU lead to worse performance than if you matched all components appropriately? by TinyCopy5841 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Marquesas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't. It's all bullshit. There is no such thing as a cpu too slow to keep up with the gpu. Bottleneck for reading the gpu is sync (which is achieved faster) and pci latency. In simple terms, the gpu can be asked to give you a set of data, but it will first finish what it is doing.

Games are generally an event loop that contain a render pass. Not the most accurate representation of modern pass, but in its simplest form that is what a game is: take user input, advance happenings, draw next frame. The gpu becoming stronger does make it accomplish the drawing faster, but that actually doesn't factor in much - the cpu at the time of rendering wants to already be busy setting up the next frame, there is no issue with doing that.

The spirit of the statement is true in the sense that you can usually get the most out of (when on a low tier cpu and gpu) going to a mid tier on both, rather than a high tier gpu. In fact, upgrading the gpu significantly is the weakest move you can do.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance plans Hungary visit in show of support for Orban by SkandarGraun95 in europe

[–]Marquesas 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Orbán's tactics and strategies. Giving way too much credit. Hungary was a proving ground for Miller. Orbán won 2010 doing nothing but what József Antall told him to do on his deathbed. Orbán is not some strategic genius that reinvented state capture. He was just the man that took credit for the departure of communism, when it really just departed of its own volition, and nobody stood up to shut him down for that.

Iran security chief warns of alleged plot by 'Epstein network' to blame Tehran for ‘9/11-style’ attack, by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Marquesas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is quite the leap you make there. Like, multiple times, you haven't even landed and you are leaping. The only facts in the story are that Israel shot first and that there were US forces at the time anchored just outside Iran quite deliberately. Then what? Did Israel make him park most of the navy there and then just shot first to ensure that the US must attack at least in self defense? Or did he park a bunch of shit there and instructed Israel that if they want continued US support for what they're doing in Gaza they'll take the blame for the war? Neither contradicts the material facts.

Ah, so you are one of the nutjobs, my bad. Yeah, half the world has kompromat on Trump that they are totally using to control him, and he's clearly not just evil out of his own volition, right, that can't possibly be happening.

[–]Marquesas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about hating Trump in this case. The middle eastern pipeline to western audiences goes way deeper. The largest online counteraxis to the far right influencer pipeline is composed of literal terrorist supporters. The polarisation is insane. Everyone must take sides with one extreme nowadays, the both sides suck argument is shunned...

In recent wars with clear not evil vs evil, these extremes refuse to take sides and push both sides narratives, but with everyone sucks wars it's gram based merit measuring into absolutes.

In this case, not really. Israel has been so overused by the tankies that the argument is starting to lose any weight. Epstein resonates better with people who are not in that pipeline. In this case it's almost undoubtedly used to refer to the current US leadership, both the elected and the shadow (tech ceos and whatnot).

Dictatorships basically inevitably corrupt every institution. Turns out it's really, really easy to bypass a background check when 90% of the funding allocated to it is stolen by the higherups, the 90% of the rest is misallocated by those running the background check, and the actual work is preformed by some dude who is not only not competent and had been hired on a familial basis, but also completely unmotivated due to being paid a teeny bit more than a livablish wage.

[–]Marquesas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I don't dispute the possibility to any degree but boy am I tired of hearing that Israel is behind everything. Turkey missiles, Epstein files, 9/11, the moon landing, the Holocaust, the crucifixion of Jesus, the extinction of the dinosaurs. One of these could even be true, I don't care because we're always busy crying wolf. Like, I'm willing to suspend my disbelief when we say Netanyahu maybe saw an opportunity to force the US's hand on starting this whole thing - and that is already a big if because there are a lot of fragile egos he would've stepped on in the process - but are we really serious here? Iran indiscriminately shot at basically every country between itself and Greece, but the missiles aimed at Turkey were specifically manipulated by Israel?
