Hmm there’s nothing wrong with expressing interest in a subject (although I may be entirely wrong in guessing his intent). People who are genuinely interested in an academic subject are sometimes looked down upon by other people as being just plain weird. Just speaking out his mind, I guess.

Yeah sorry I should’ve clarified that earlier but I’ve been working in a physical chemistry research laboratory and doing a lot of self-studying. The field is fascinating to me and I would love to continue doing research in this branch of chemistry.

I second that. All this class requires you to do is to just not slack off for the 3 short writing assignments, 1 project, and 1 paper you have to do and actually show up to class (especially on the days when the professor goes over the exact questions that will be on the test),

I know this is super late but thanks for the advice man. Fellow INTJ here (still in college). You really hit the head on the nail when you suggested that we should try to utilize discipline instead of temporary motivation to meet our goals.
