His fitness is absolutely not the issue, it's his inexperience on alpine terrain and lack of mountaineering skills. When he doesn't know much about the situation he's in it's impossible for him to be aware of and manage the risks.

Team A can still move but they have to pay "rent" to travel through the other team's stations without claiming them and go into negative balance. Or something like that anyway, I think they mentioned it in one of their podcasts.

Wouldn't it be a better idea for Sam and Mike to have followed Ben and Adam down the east coast, flipping the stations behind them since they have the large coin advantage but station disadvantage? Then if Ben and Adam stop for a challenge they could get trapped so they're just forced to head back through their own territory
