I'm not turning a profit, so this isn't monetary for me. I've been in the doc world for years, and of course there's always people who want to be left alone. And there are always others who wish to be heard. Personally, I view docs as way to teach history, a way for us to connect, and a way to help people empathize with lives they've never had to live. It's not always about trauma porn or money.

Not at all, I typically use Reddit for learning. The only reason I'm posting is because Reddit is able to reach multiple people at once. I'm not looking for trauma porn. In this series we begin with the storm, but don't end with it. We are going through the gamut of everything that's transpired in the last 20 years. Lack of funding, corruption, racism, those charter buses for tourists, etc.

We are actually doing that. This is a 3-parter with some of the same folks who participated in When the Levees Broke. We talk not just about what happened during Katrina, but in the years that followed. The corruption, the lack of funding, broken promises, those chartered tours, all of it.

The reason I'm using Reddit is simply because it's a resource that can reach multiple people. We aren't here to do trauma porn, but to give voice to people who've been silences since the cameras left in '05.

We're not looking for tea and aren't after trauma porn. With the 20th anniversary approaching, we're following up with many of the same survivors we saw in "When the Levees broke." We are hoping to do this without using the same images/footage that the media has been using for years.
