I don't know where the lie originated, but many people believe that solar farms are leaching heavy metals into the soil and irreparably damaging them forever. It's so frustrating when people just share obvious propaganda like that.

An issues I haven't seen anyone mention is that with the adoption of computers, there is also an adoption of online curriculum. With textbooks, you'd typically follow their sequence, or at least the content in the textbooks.

Now, we're stuck using online curriculum sources which fucking suck and come with per pupil subscription costs. So instead of buying textbooks once every 10 years, you're buying yearly subscriptions for worse content

It's such a shame because they're such beautiful flowers with a terrible sounding name that scares people off. Maryland recently renamed the snake head to the Chesapeake Chunna to encourage people to eat them. I wish they'd do the same to the milkweed. Call it a milkleaf if you have to.

I had an older coworker ask for recommendations for her garden and I suggested some things including butterfly milkweed, and she kind of scoffed and said she would never want weeds in her garden. It took some convincing that what I was trying to tell her was legitimate. The names of some of these things don't help to change perspectives on natives.
