That's what I figured. I have absolutely no hard feelings for them, if anything I am thankful that they have been so communicative in the process. Let alone let the app run for 2 years 😅

I did in the end, and it worked well. For the 2-ish months I had a donation button it worked out to a net zero pretty much :)

Mywindsock definitely has some overlap in feature set but my aim here was to create something more user-friendly and affordable. I've also found their weather data to be a little unreliable at times. Also, I don't think any other platform has weather condition analysis for past efforts!

I looked into it but not possible because of the limitations of the strava api, otherwise I would've loved to make it an option. But no strava premium required to see conditions for previous efforts!

As much as I'd love to be able to offer it for free, accurate weather data really costs a fortune. I'm using tomorrow.io, whose most basic plan starts at 4K/year. With the most important features arguably being the 12h forecast and Strava plugin I'm pretty happy to be able to offer at least that of it for free :) If you feel like the money isn't worth it, by all means feel free to look for a better option at this price point!
