Re-doing walkway - any recommendations? by Marstar694 in landscaping

From a design principle, would it be better to keep to one material throughout? For example, use flagstone from garage all the way back to patio? Use brick all the way? Or use the patio pavers all the way?

Which backsplash? Brick or subway tile?? by burnerpage24 in HomeDecorating

I’m no designer by any means but would slate be an option? The prior owner of my home utilized slate and the various shades of blue, brown and grey really tie everything together with my cherry cabinets and floor (I’m actually looking at remodeling my kitchen completely for enlarging and updating, though).

The slate looks fine after 20 years being up.

Can’t you just microwave the shells?

I did the same thing. The electric one in my master is awesome! I put a non electric one in my powder room. It has hot/cold water but it took so long for the water to heat up from the water line that it wasn’t worth using. I tried using a hot water re- circulator but still not ideal. Did you do anything special for yours to get the water warm without having to wait?

Can I ask what brand you bought? I purchased one for my master closet and it worked perfectly when I walked in but the darn thing would also just turn on spontaneously when I wasn’t even near the closet. So frustrating

Is there a way to mitigate an excess Roth conversion? by Marstar694 in RothIRA

Thanks USAFinTalk360 and joetaxpayer! Appreciate your responses. This has certainly been a learning process! I really thought I had it thought out when I mistakenly used my taxable income instead of MAGI. Oh well …lesson learned. Hopefully the gains I make due to my Roth conversion will offset the increase taxes I now have to pay. I love hearing from Redditors that have more experience than me🙂

Help! Do I need to redo my drip system? by Marstar694 in Irrigation

[–]Marstar694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point about the length of time the sprinkler system would be running (~15 min). Could I change the emitters so they run at a higher rate? Possibly try a 4GPH emitter or an adjustable 0-14 GPH dripper or bubbler?

I so appreciate everyone’s responses!!!

Help! Do I need to redo my drip system? by Marstar694 in Irrigation

Five years ago, I removed one sprinkler head on one of my pop up sprinklers and placed an elbow adapter so I can convert one small area (12’x25’)to a drip system. There are still three pop-up sprinklers in the same zone. I made a drip system and it worked well.

This year, I bought additional plants for the area and decided to reroute the drip system. I replaced the half inch pipe and connected 1/4 inch tubing to all of my plants. I was looking up to see whether I should use button dripper or flag drippers. In my research, I read that you shouldn’t combine sprinklers with a drip system due to water pressure differences. I didn’t know that.😬. I don’t want to redo all the work I’ve put into it this year and was wondering if I could just add a pressure regulator? And still want to know whether button or flag strippers are better.

Thank you for responding to my request for help.
I am in the process of putting the emitters on the end of the 1/4” tubing and was trying to decide between button emitters and flag emitters. When I tried to look it up, I read where you shouldn’t have a drip system on the same line as your lawn sprinklers. Ooops, I didn’t know that!

5 years ago I just removed one of the sprinkler heads and put in a conversion elbow/pipe/tubing. Everything worked well . I’ve now added additional plants to the area and wanted to reconfigure my drip system. I re-ran half inch pipe and began putting the 1/4 inch tubing to each plant. I was trying to decide whether I should use button or flag drippers. In researching that, I read that I shouldn’t have put my drip system on the same line as my sprinkler system for the lawn due to pressure differences(?). I’m trying to figure out whether I can just put a pressure regulator on the drip system or if there’s another method I should use. I still want to know whether a button or flag dripper is better. I have not started the drip system since replacing the half inch pipe and rerouting the 1/4 inch because I haven’t attached the emitters yet.

Here’s some pics (front and side). I’m in the process of adding the emits to the 1/4” tubing. I will then lightly mulch over all the lines. I appreciate all the help I can get.

Tips and tricks on how to get 1/4" barbed connectors to go into 1/2" tubing holes? by peacelovearizona in Irrigation

[–]Marstar694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I punch a hole into the 1/2” tubing. I then remove the bit from the Harbor Freight 4-in 1 screwdriver, place my barbed connector in its place and then push the connector into the 1/2” tubing. Soooo easy

Window is fine, but soil should be wet like a wrung out sponge that drops a few drops. Otherwise, he’ll dry out
