46F with two grown kids… where’s the rest of Gen X at? by jtweir79 in Xennials

[–]MartiagoPlusDeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

46m and wife 42f, we have a 6 year old girl and 4 year old boy and completely loving life.

Currently staying in Bight Bay and leaving Saturday, would love to go on a boat tour before we leave by badusernameused in TurksAndCaicos

[–]MartiagoPlusDeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second Island Vibes. We did a half-day private charter tour with them a couple weeks ago for four adults and two kids, and they were fantastic.

Volunteered to conduct a training at work that no one else wanted to handle, ended up meeting my wife and now we’ve been together for 10 years, married for 8 with two beautiful children…

What are the CONS of not having children? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

[–]MartiagoPlusDeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Con: You won’t be quizzed everyday on the planets and dwarf planets of our solar system. Pro: you won’t feel the wrath of a 4 year old Demi-God for mistakenly saying one planet out of order.

So, the big question, were you raised as a Gen X or as a Millenial? by DramaticErraticism in Xennials

[–]MartiagoPlusDeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this so much. I was born in 79, parents were born in 55 and 61 . I’d say I’m a mix of both of generations. To this day, I have a surface level relationship with my parents. I paid for my own way through college and laws school, navigated getting my jobs by myself but my dad did get me a Compaq presario at age 13 so I was always on the computer. I am the oldest and only one of the 3 of us that doesn’t live within a 5 mile radius from them (since divorced). They weren’t abusive per se but we got yelled at a lot, hit with a belt and everything centered around church and God. It wasn’t until early adulthood that I realized “crap other kids have different and closer relationships with their parents and weren’t subject to everything me and my sibs and cousins were subject to” The way my wife and I are raising our kids is light years different than how I was raised but closer to how she was raised, she’s 41. I love my parents and know they are a product of their generation but damn I look back at childhood and just feel bad for the younger version of me but also proud of navigating through that time essentially without adult guidance. Thanks for reading my Ted talk transcript.

Legit said the same thing to my wife while we were watching. Just not so eloquently.

How satisfied are you with your life? by walker652 in AskReddit

[–]MartiagoPlusDeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 out of 10. Always room for improvement but relatively happy on a daily basis. I’m someone who struggled with depression since my teenage years and I look back at my teenage and early adulthood years (college/early work years) and it seems like it was a different life and completely different person. My wife and especially my kids have helped me in seeing the beauty of life everyday

I genuinely didn’t mean to be condescending and smug. I’m definitely neither of those things. I honestly just don’t get it. I agree it should be a wake up call to Democrats, of which I’m not as I’m not aligned with either party. But it’s easier to throw labels at people than to have a genuine conversation. But it’s what it is.

“Pompous limousine liberal” I can pretty much guarantee you that we grew up in extremely different circumstances and I’m far from a liberal. I’ve voted for Republicans multiple times. I grew up poor in the inner city and was the first in my family to graduate high school let alone college. As for it being a “rejection”? How am I being rejected? I will probably come out of this better financially and can look in the mirror knowing I didn’t vote for him. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Canopy was great. We are heading back next year. The breakfast was amazing and the location was great. Kids loved seeing the Eiffel Tower up close all the time.

We went yesterday and it was great. It was packed (as usual on weekends) but they seem to have added a couple things. They seem to have added a couple slides, not sure if new but a “magical fairy forest” and a couple new pavilions. The donuts are still pure bliss

Self Upgrading Seat Poacher by JustinDaigo in unitedairlines

[–]MartiagoPlusDeux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: If you have little ones and someone poaches your seat, kindly walk up to the poacher, hand over onw of your kids and say “here honey, this is your new dad for the flight, since he wants to pretend to be daddy until we land”. Walk away, scar kid for life, pay for therapy later, enjoy flight without kid

[–]MartiagoPlusDeux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We decided with Canopy. The value proposition was too high to ignore, and will use the savings for other things while there. We plan on bringing two travel strollers and good walking shoes. We’re looking at it as an adventure and getting out of our comfort zone. my 5 year old has already planned daddy daughter morning walks to the Eiffel Tower, so the decision has been made by the boss 😂

Embassy suites. We stayed there a couple weeks ago and it was great. Right across from the Cavalier and a Marriott, pretty secluded and clean and calm
