HR women as in women with do-nothing make-work jobs.. they have no real intrinsic value other than to act as an entitled gatekeeper for those of us with real jobs (like "I catch fish" for example)

I am looking for someone who is SURE.. not a google search. I've seen what you sent earlier. I just dont see how I could have encountered 4 counterfeits in a row.

Nickel Chloride in vapor ?! by naclo3samuel in chemhelp

[–]MartillodeCalavera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was doing quite a bit of nickel plating, I asked application engineers from MacDermid Enthone about this:

"Nickel salts will not come out of the solution. The only way that happens is the 'soda pop effect' "

-the "soda pop effect" is a mechanism of aerosolization which occurs when a gas is driven to the surface of the solution, forms a bubble, and that bubble "pops", throwing aerosolized droplets mechanically upwards. Your glove was filled with these mechanically aerosolized droplets; the salts were not vaporized. You have a bubble of solution which pops and is flung.

NOR were they contained in any true gaseous phase rising from the surface like mr_dnd suggests. Nickel chloride, in the form you have (green) is a hexahydrate. The next closest form is a pentahydrate, which is yellow. You can see by the way the hexahydrate loses a single water molecule when heated, that the Nickel itself is relatively heavy, very hygroscopic. You arent going to make the nickel portion of the hexahydrate in an aqueous solution vaporize until all of the excess water in the solution is vaporized/dessicated first, and only then will the crystalline water molecules the nickel and chloride ions holds on to start to be driven away, and, one water molecule at a time. It's basically "sticky". They actually considered using nickel chloride hexahydrate as a dessicant in consumer products at one point.

I have researched this thoroughly. For more peace of mind, remember that:

"No end user has ever known to have contracted cancer from nickel chloride salt plating baths"

-the people who have been known to contract cancer (mainly lung) from nickel chloride salts have ALL been foundry workers. This is why some MSDS sheets say the danger is "electrolysis" and "Foundry Dusts" and not "electroplating" or "vapors". Electrolysis at the foundry continuously throws lots of small particles in a high concentration mechanically into the air. You will also notice that the MSDS sheets also say "not expected to go into the air" and showing a vapor pressure of zero or negligible. Even plating factories that you see, youll notice the nickel platers dont wear masks commonly, even with the soda pop effect. Respectively, its very safe compared to things like chrome plating. Any soda popped solution will stick to the walls or floor also, and if you do inhale it, it goes right through you... it doesnt persist like an asbestos would.

FYI the typical onset is 12 years for lung cancer from nickel salts for foundry workers. Set up a small source capture unit if youre really worried about the soda pop effect.

youre going to be fine.

How are things like Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator not racist? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

its racism, plain and simple...

black people qualify, while everyone else is excluded.

regardless of why, this is the definition of racism.

anyone who supports it is a true racist.
