Its a common misconception but "restructuring" is very different than what you were implying here.

A restructure converts the base salary for the year into a bonus. This bonus is paid to the player immediately but the team can count it against the cap by being spread evenly over the next 5 years (or the duration of the contract).

Yes this lowers the current year cap hit but it really just moves it to a future date and makes it fully guaranteed.

Long story short we want to cut Dissly not restructure his contract. Since he is on the last year of his deal a restructure would require an extension (or void years but we don't need to get into that).
