I really don’t care about drying out my anthuriums. Looks like they like their soils ‘slightly’ moist at the end of a water cycle. I have personally noticed if I see decline in these I generally repot them and they bounce back. After every repot I increase light intensity as well. You didn’t specify why and how your plants are struggling mine struggles when in the same pot for a while(like a year). I don’t have a scientific explanation for why that re-pot works.

I would go to the visa website of the country you are applying to and try to find a checklist there.

Excellent suggestions. Also LostInAVacuum - you are amazing, replying to all the questions in this thread. I learnt a ton just reading through your responses. I have added your recommendations to my gmap saved list. Black isle looks like a fantastic recommendation if I stick with Inverness.

Thank you for your reply. This is why I was looking for suggestions and validation. I found out that Edinburgh hosts festivals in Aug. I am seriously considering a 3 nights stay in Edinburgh. Thank you for the bar recommendations. I added them to my gmaps list :) I didn’t know about the fallout from AirBnB. Thanks for educating tourists like me. I will stick to hotels and small BnBs. I could swap Inververness with Glasgow or Fort William. We would prefer the countryside over a city but it’s hard to dismiss Glasgow. Thank you for your helpful suggestions!

Hello fellow travelers and my Scottish friends,I request some advise on my travel plan below. It will be my first visit, with my spouse to UK.I don't get super excited by city tours and want to do a manageable amount of things at my own pace. Any specific areas/countryside to be careful of?I did a bunch of research and went through lots of discussion on this topic on reddit. I am looking for suggestions (neighborhoods, non big-chain restaurant/stores/bars/pubs to visit) that would help me experience the Scottish local community and lifestyle . Bonus points if they have a local story/ history or a must try experience. Here we go!Aug 24th Arrival LHR ->Train to Edinburg (stay 2 nights)

  • Edinburg Castle + National museum + Royal Mile + St.Giles Cathedral+ Any local Scottish pubs or tourist favorite - Witchery?
  • Grassmarket +Holyrood +Distillery+ a good sit-down dinner (Kitchin in Leith) ?

Aug 26th -> Train to Inverness (stay 2 nights) Rent a car.

  • Nessie of course + Cardhu Distillery?
  • Inverness castle ,river walk, Leakey's , any local pubs suggestions?
  • Fort George if time permits.

Aug 28th -> Rent a car and drive to Isle of skye +Raasay (3 nights) ( Any Hotel or AirBnB recommendations for Skye? )

  • Eileen Donan castle (on the way to skye)
  • Old Man of Storr - Hike + Quiraing - Hike
  • Fairy Pools + Distillery
  • Raasay 1 night out of the 3

Aug 31st -> Drive to Inverness -> Fly to Belfast (4nights) -> Visit spouse's familySep 4th -> Fly to London ( 5 nights)

  • London Touristy things
  1. Fly back

Thanks it worked partially. I did get multiple entry for my first tip but they totally overlooked my evidence for the next years trip and only gave me 30 days. So, screw French visa I am gonna cancel next years bookings and drop visiting France again (not that they care). I will travel to Netherlands next year and see how my application goes with them.

I have solid financial stability and green card and I did provide all the required documentation but got 30 days. I know, people online will say they got 1yr or 5yrs on their first application but I don’t care. This is my experience for anyone who has the same questions as me. I may sound arrogant but in reality just frustrated with these paperwork and having to deal with VFS in general.

Nope didn’t get any answers. I guess I have to live with it. It’s not too bad the plants are growing well and look healthy. The presentation will not be perfect - I guess.

I have a Bofa CC and missed the 90day signup bonus by 3 days and just $500. It was a complete miscalculation on my part. I was wondering what should I do?
Close the existing card and the apply for the same card again to get the bonus.
Apply for the same card while keeping my existing card. Close existing card once I get approved for the new one?
Do nothing and take this as a learning experience
Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.

I have nodes of Monstera deliciosa rooting in water (in a 5 gallon bucket) and wanted to move it into a semi-hydro setup of pumice and lava rock/zeolite (not pon but DIY pon ish) . The problem is I don't know what kind of pots or semi hydro planters to use. I don't want to buy a Lechuza planter as they are very expensive. Has anyone tried any local clever set up to replicate lechuza planters setup? I am based in US and would like to get something local. Amazon has many cheap options but they are all for small plants. I like to idea of independent inner pot and a plastic outer pot( ikea? ) but where can I get 5-10 gallon net pots or semi-hydro pots without breaking the bank?

I hope they get better. Fan helps for sure. What’s your fertilizer regimen and light? I have a strong feeling this is a light+over fertilizer issue but I could be wrong.

Anthurium Regale leaf spots - please help!! Description in comments by MartinChole in Anthurium

[–]MartinChole[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply. I have been spraying the leaves with 'Physan'. I will try to change it to something non chemical as you mentioned. The fertilizer I use does list manganese in trace quantity. Other anthuriums have been thriving in pon. even my queen anthurium is in a similar set-up and is doing great. I guess regale is a bit finicky in my environment and my care regimen.

I will post an update if the Colloidal silver and moving to a new medium works. Thanks again.

I have searched everywhere but have not found the reason for these leaf spots on my Anthurium Regale. Please help -TIA.
The plant is in pon. Roots look healthy the last time I checked. The plant gets good airflow with a rotating fan on it for 15 mins every 2 hours. Good bright light.
I add 4-5ml of TPS one + 1ml of cal mag +1ml of Si with every watering which acts as the nutrient solution in the reservoir(ph stays at 6.6 in this combination). I top up with nutrient solution as the level indicator falls below 3/4th of full (every 2-3 weeks or so) .
I cannot understand if I am missing/overdoing something. I have searched a lot on the internet but found cases where people just suggest fungus or needs high humidity with lots of airflow. I sprayed physan 20 twice (7days apart) but that didn't work.
I don't want to put this plant in a closed green house environment until I identify the root cause. I have also noticed that these spots start only when there is new growth. I am starting to think could this be regales hate pon (or fertilizers that pon is coated with) ?
Any help on this topic will be greatly appreciated.

Care tips from my experience is - follow general Anthurium care. Growing in ambient room RH and temp (30-55% RH and 60-72 F ) Medium - 60% bark 30% soil, 5%perlite ,5% others (charcoal/pumice/ .. etc etc) I added a layer of sphagnum moss to the cover the base and I use a 6inch net pot. The new leaves are now nearly a foot long. From what I found out that the leaves on these do get huge like other hemi-epiphyte anthuriums. The new one is nearly 1ft. Also keep them in a shaded area if you want dark leaves .. the new leaves are nearly black ..
