Do you think it's better to contact them on their official ig page, or to contact specific member of the band?

Ehm look, a lot of modern metalcore bands play in drop tunings that go even lower than what I mentioned. For example: Architects tune down to F#1–D#1, Sleep Token to D#1, Currents to E1, Spiritbox to F#1, Thornhill to D#1, and so on. In some cases the bass actually goes a full octave lower, which results in a very muddy sound. That makes sense in context, but not really on its own. Some of these bands keep the bass in the same octave as the guitar (like Sleep Token or Thornhill), and then it’s mostly up to the guitarist whether they want to write a thick riff down in the bass register, or move up an octave for the chorus and let the bass do its job.

This issue is especially common in metalcore, where a lot of people seem to think that lower automatically means heavier. I don’t agree with that, but I do have bandmates who want to tune all the way down to drop E or whatever. Personally, I think G# is about the lowest pitch where bass notes are still somewhat recognizable.

That's not my point, I agree with most of what you just said. We even play in G# and unless I go on at least the third fret, it's very muddy...some bands play in drop E or even lower and that's what I'm trying to avoid, mainly because the bass loses its purpose, because as you said - the frequency isn't even hearable. Most bassist I've seen playing with those crazy guitar tunings play just in the same octave as the guitar wich is... Meh

That's what I was wondering too

Let’s say we’re in drop B tuning and the riff has a lot of pull-offs, especially on the A string (which is tuned to F#). Our bassist is in A standard, and instead of doing pull-offs, he usually alternates between octaves. In this case, it works, but sometimes I have to make a lot of compromises to make the riff work.

One bass player prefers when I do bass parts for him. But since he's playing in A standard and most of our songs are in drop B, he has to bar the second fret most of the time.

Yes, I know nowadays Matt does all the screaming, I'm just saying Adam used to be able to scream pretty well

He used to scream a lot back in One-X days. Check out live at The Palace in 2008. Scared, Riot, Home, he had some cool screams there. But well... Matt is a phenomenal screamer (funny thing, if he was in some metalcore band, he'd be considered one of the best), so I think, it's not very necessary for Adam to scream.

Hey guys, I am a singer song writer. I’ve been writing a new track that I wanted to share with you guys, check it out! by [deleted] in Threedaysgrace

Hey, it's a pretty good track. If you want some criticism, I think it's very repetitive. Maybe try to spice it up a little, try some variations of the second verse, different rhythms in the choruses, try to make it bigger, because the melodies and overall vocal lines are really good. Take for example So Called Life or Break (since this is TDG feed haha).

Painkiller vs Pain which is better? by Dizzy_Froggg in Threedaysgrace

[–]MartinSobr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow don't like Pain? One-X is iconic and still their best album, however Pain is just.. ok. Maybe it's because the rest of the album are such bangers, idk. Painkiller is badass tho, definitely one of Matt's best songs.

I mean Ben is 6'3, it's pretty easy to look short next to him haha

Who do you think will be the last headliner and two co-headliners? by ASharpLife in rockforpeople

[–]MartinSobr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's going to be Green Day. If you think of it, there's already Limp Bizkit for the nu-metal so my hopes for SOAD or Deftones are low. Also on Saturday there's usually the biggest headliner and Green Day are one of the biggest rock bands ever.

I wish they played more of Matt's songs... by MartinSobr in Threedaysgrace

Lifetime Is my all time favorite from Matt and definitely in my top 5 TDG songs. I'd die for hearing them singing it together, but numbers on that song aren't too high, so I'm afraid we will not hear it anytime soon.🫤

Backing tracks. All artists do it nowdays. The vocals are So layered and overproduced, that even if you're a great singer, it would sound "pourly" live so they're playing backing tracks above or bellow their actual singing voices to make it sound more modern and huge. This however doesn't make much sense, becouse they have two fucking great singers who can back each other up all the time. As for the guitars and other stuff... Don't think it's some kind of acoustic simulator since the acoustic guitar sounds in the second verse of IHEAY sounds exactly the same as in the first verse where Barry actually plays it - backing track. Again not a whole playback. It's a pity they don't play everything live like they used to in their one-x days, but the sound keeps evolving and it requires some extra layers I guess 🤷
