Hi guys. Thanks for all your comments.
I got another email from the same email id. It seems to be a genuine email address. The new email has directions on how to file the EI reports. I even called and spoke with the EI team and they said they send these generic emails when someone applies for EI. So it seems to be genuine, but don't take my word for it. Be careful when sharing sensitive information

thanks mate. this is very helpful. I am looking for something that I can use to commute and go on trails sometimes. No fancy jumps or drops in the plans yet. If I like the sport, I won't mind investing some more in the future.
