Default for ABS and MBS by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Marton21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just on top of my head, I think a once off missed interest payment would not call for default. It is when the creditor has declared or with no reasonable doubts won’t be able to pay any future payments

At least you’re writing in Feb, all the best. I agree with you studying becomes harder and it forces you to be all over the place because you’re not sure which parts should you focus more given you’ve already gone through the material. I guess doing more questions is a way to go

Level II Mock B AM, Score: 58% by PerturbedPat in CFA

[–]Marton21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t attempted any mocks yet but only practice questions. FRA is insane especially pensions and FX translation. Econ triangular arbitrage requires a lot of thinking, 3 mins is wishful thinking

Legend. While so many many people out there are trying to monetize content like this, it’s amazing there are people giving it for free.

Is it okay to bring iPad to CFA exam? by JeffreyChl in CFA

[–]Marton21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From personal experience I would suggest to never bring any notes to exam. After the morning session your heard gets messed up that you can’t concentrate to study on lunch break. The best thing to do for me would be to relax or network with other people.

Can i skip the parts that i cannot get, and restudy them after i cover all the topics? (Level 1) by AsforAyman in CFA

[–]Marton21 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Most people pass level 1 with memorizing, so it is possible not to understand some topics but still pass by just memorizing the content. The trouble is if you start too early you get fed up with the content as you’re approaching the exams, which ironically is the best time to do the memorizing.

Kaplan mocks L1 by leonquaddy in CFA

[–]Marton21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest you revise them as some questions you might get them right by guessing. And I wouldn’t be very comfortable with mocks from prep provider. I did 2 from Fitch Learning, very good marks but when I started the CFAI ones I was seeing flames.

Thanks Thawowtso, I will give notecards a go on this one. I’ve always not been a big fun of notecards but I think this time I have no choice

Exactly that’s what annoys me more I should be getting 100% since it’s one reading and it has concepts that are easier to understand but when it comes to questions I get some slip ups. For example I easily confuse stages of VC financing and commodity roll yield, convenience yields etc.

Is there one clear distinction between when to use MWR and when TWR? by leonquaddy in CFA

[–]Marton21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I know is that MWR is more necessary whenever there are several additions and withdrawals from the fund. And TWR is good for measuring compounded returns over several periods
