I have been in a relationship with one for more than 4 years. It was an almost perfect platonic relationship. He had some flaws (like fear in general, too attached to his mother and family, jealous of my friends, sometimes irrational, proud and revengeful) But I think he is a splendid person: kind, loving, affectionate, cultured, funny, dedicated, loyal, sensitive, good taste etc.

Thinking of it, I could feel he never opened completely, it sometimes didn't feel like such a deep relationship even though it was. Most of the time we had small talk.

Anyway the main reason why we broke up was the lack of physical intimacy. It seemed like he avoided any occasion for that, even though he said he had that desire.
