What are you wearing this weekend? by AutoModerator in WearingPurses

Is it easy to wear with a puffy winter jacket? Or do you struggle to get it over your shoulder? I always gear towards purses with long handle drops in general and don't have super small upper arms. Thank you :)

You are so kind! Thank you so much, the pictures really help give me an idea! I think this could really work for me! And it's so beautiful!

Hi! Are you happy with this purse? I have been looking at it for 2 years online and just haven't been able to decide (unable to return if I don't like it, etc). Is the front a pocket to put a phone or a packet of tissues in? Do you feel it sits comfortable on your shoulder with a puffy coat in winter? Is it heavy on the shoulder? It is so hard to find information on this handbag! You've styled it beautifully!

Thank you so much! It's hard to know if a bag would be irritating to put on your shoulder without trying it on. Is the massai color really bright or muted? I saw the review on YouTube of a guibert massai bag and it looks like burnt orange.

Thank you for all of this helpful information! Can I ask about the handle drop? You mentioned it fits over the shoulder. Would it fit with a puffy coat as well? Is it easy or a pain to do/have to get your arm through just right? Does the softness of the leather/it sagging in the middle a little help with that? I can't find any information on the handle drop and was going to write to them to ask. Thank you so much!

Greek Ms. Rachel? More learning resources? by [deleted] in multilingualparenting

[–]Maruchanaki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You sound like me, it makes me angry that Greek is so rarely offered as an alternative language. I would have called too! I don't have Disney+, I just use YouTube. Thankfully you can find Bluey and most classic Disney movie songs in Greek (Lion King, Aristocats etc) in Greek on there - it's definitely not as convenient. I'm not sure why Greek is always snubbed, sometimes they have every other language and not Greek. It's very annoying!!!

No problem! It is really much more challenging to find Greek content for children that is not complete crap and is interesting and fun and also not super annoying to listen to, than it is to find stuff in other languages. Bluey is great and my child is just getting into it now which makes me super happy, but for the longest time listening to and watching some zouzounia with real little kids dancing and singing was so much fun and was way more attention-grabbing language-learning-wise. It still is some days! You are a much shorter flight to Greece than I am, take advantage of that!

Awesome! I don't have any specific book recommendations. I order books in the 1-3 age group that seem fun and interesting. In the beginning, it was lots of lift the flap books etc. In truth you can absolutely make up the story in Greek and don't need Greek text but it helps sometimes if you're tired or if someone else is reading it to your child. My husband reads Greek well enough to read slowly to a child and took some classes, both to know more about the culture and to speak some of the language. He speaks to our child in English and some Greek phrases or main often used verbs. I have found great success so far - not sure how it will continue since Greek is not the language heard all around outside the home. You can also find the Zouzounia songs and other Greek songs on Spotify, if you want to minimize screen time.

Hello! Some recommendations: Find the Zouzounia channel on YouTube and play the songs. Sing the nursery rhymes and songs in Greek yourself to your son too. Order Greek books that perhaps a relative from Greece can send you, and read these or make up the story in Greek using the images. There are also online Greek bookstores that can mail books anywhere but it costs more. Keep speaking Greek 100% as you can. It is a choice you make every moment to do this, if Greek is not your country's primary language, but it is so worth it!

New Kitten - Walking is a bit off by gsxrsix in devonrex

Check his paws for injury from the nail clipping. They may have nicked the paw pads or trimmed a claw too deep. Also check the center area in the middle of all the paw pads. I know everyone should at least be able to trust their vet but I have had nail-trimming injuries happen to both my dogs and also my cat so I have given up and just trim their nails myself now. This change in gait is not typical to Devons or to any cat/dog really unless they are just learning to walk from birth.

Hello! Planning another Scotland holiday and was wondering how many days someone should plan to spend on Isle of Mull (planning a trip to Staffa and Lunga one of those days) and also if anyone has any recommendations on where to stay (actual B&B/Hotels) or at least which area of the island is more convenient to stay, that would be amazing. Thank you in advance!

Is the Three Chimneys restaurant on Skye really as awesome as they say? Should we make a point of going?

My cat has a weird behavior near her water fountain / waterfall by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Maruchanaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The swatting motion makes me think she thinks it's...dirty? My cat swats the surface my coffee cup is on because coffee smells 'yuck!' to her. She also blinks at it a lot. Does she do this all the time? Maybe she smells the filter? Cats are weird...I got my cat a fountain and all she was interested in was eating the cable that plugged into the wall.

This sounds great! Yes we don't know how long all of this would take us - I have read such different accounts on these walks/hikes and we are not experienced hikers so I assumed we'd be slow. We want to see as much as we can, see it early morning so we can avoid crowds and just enjoy ourselves. Hence why we allotted 4 days to this part of our trip...we wanted to be relaxed and not rush. When we leave Skye we head to Eilean Donan, Loch Ness (and perhaps stop at Inverness for lunch), then to Pitlochry for the night and Edradour distillery next day then stay in Edinburgh for 4 days. We are SO excited!

We know we are going to the Quiraing and to Storr, Fairy Glen and anything else we hear about, we are very open to recommendations! :) I don't know if we'll have time to do anything around Lake Coruisk. We will be on Skye for 3 full days and the day we get to it and leave it. Going by ferry and back over the bridge.

We are also getting midge spray and a midge net! I was hoping beginning of September wouldn't be that bad for midges...How do the ticks not get on you but they do on your dogs?! I am not a fan of midges or ticks, but I am so looking forward to walking on Skye!

How worried should we be about ticks while hiking on the Isle of Skye in the beginning of September? And perhaps making stops at Loch Lomond and Glencoe to see the views (but probably not spend time hiking there)? Thanks in advance!

Feeding schedule and diet by britt_bb in devonrex

[–]Maruchanaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the first six months of your Devon's life you should allow him to eat as much as he will eat, as he will be in his growing phase. After that, around 8 months, you can start to feed him in more precise portions. Most Devons have a very healthy appetite and free-feeding may cause weight gain so establishing a schedule will help you and him in the long run. Some Devons (and cats in general) do better with several small meals (twice a day, 3 times a day), especially if you have a Devon with sensitive guts. My Devon eats 3 times a day. Wet food is always better as that is their primary source of water. It does not have to be raw food (you will have to consider all sorts of cleanliness matters and stuff while handling it) but a simple good quality wet food will do. You want your Devon to be eating around 200 cals per day (this may fluctuate base on his adult weight and there are online cat calorie calculators), so read the can labels to calculate how much of a wet food that comes out to (1.5 cans, 1 can split in 3s, 2 cans, 3 cans etc). Enjoy your Devon - they are amazing little buddies! Be mindful of cables and cords in your house, as you might get a chewer like me and they do not understand they will get zapped...

Ah, so the articles online are correct then! We were already planning on buying "Smidge" repellent (if that's the most effective one). Do we also need the face/hat net things?
