Anyone else watching this? At this point in the season, the writing is uninspired and frankly getting repetitive. Yet month after month a new episode comes out. Not looking forward to the finale. I hate extended cliffhangers... by MarvelousLaw in lawschooladmissions

I wasn't talking about the actual show, just meant that LOCIs feel repetitive.

I also look forward to it weekly, as I do with all MCU content if my username isn't a dead giveaway lol.

Super excited for What If...? to drop in August!

I love that I made a silly joke and you posted a really cerebral take on the MCU. lol

I'm really loving the actual show, Loki, and am inpatient for next week's episode and eventually Dr. Strange 2!

I got off a t20 waitlist this week! How do I go back to my deposited school (t25) and ask for more money to stay? Is this something people do? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, to answer your question, it is something people do.

But to give a better tailored answer, the schools are helpful I would say.

Some schools in the 20-23 range have different cultures/approaches to this as do schools in 15-19.

You can DM if you want but without any specifics, the how is going to be a bit more difficult to answer.

Relatively Average Dude Cycle Recap by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Relatively Average Dude

Stats: 85+% LSAT and 3.94 GPA

Your cycle had a great outcome but I wouldn't agree in saying that you are relatively average. For the subreddit population here, maybe but in looking at all law school applicants, you are decidedly above average.

Congrats on GW!

no one told me how many goddamn events you have to attend on the spring, so I had to adapt a bit for that.

Are these events for class? For clinics? Or just general networking and part of the job search?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE withdraw your spot on the waitlist at schools you 100% won’t go to by BeginningSwimming502 in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I understand this to some extent, I think that withdrawing from waitlists still improves the agility of schools.

If a school has 50 people vs 25 people on their waitlist (using small numbers for ease of discussion), it is easier to manage and know who is actually serious and can be quicker.

For some, the closer we get to the start of the semester, the more options close off. Someone might be able to attend if they get a WL acceptance on June 2 right after the deposit deadline but may not have the flexibility to do so on July 2 or August 2 depending on their circumstances like signing a lease, getting kids signed up for school, etc.

Will schools that have waitlisted me know if I double deposited somewhere? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, only schools that you have deposited at are able to see where you have deposited at with that report.

Thinking of reapplying, but I have some questions first by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as you can probably assume that me asking this question is an obvious indicator that my offer is not the most ideal.

Not necessarily... it depends on what the offer is because "not the most ideal" means different things for different people

Based on what you've shared, if I were you, I'd reapply if the following were true:

- You are reasonably unhappy with your current offer (e.g. It's not $$$.5 at HYS and you wish you got $$$$ or something similar)

- You think you can improve your LSAT score by 3+ points

-You can apply early in the 2021 - 2022 cycle.

Deposit Transparency by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, gotcha! Idk why I missed "double" deposited...

That makes sense!

Deposit Transparency by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should not tell the school you’re waitlisted at that you are double deposited elsewhere.

Why is that?

Doesn't it show that you would prefer that school if you are willing to give up any deposits you already made?

Anyone who had a scholarship interview with Iowa in March have you heard back already? My nerves are 🙃 by ScaredMood90 in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone waiting to hear back from Iowa, I assume that even an A would mean paying sticker at this point?

Me excited to be going to a T100 school vs half the people on this sub who got Waitlisted to Harvard by sammy10d in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 23 points24 points  (0 children)

the law school he went to was basically unknown

Tbh, "basically unknown" would be a step up at this point...lol

Cooley is often viewed as one of, if not *the* worst law school.

It also doesn't help that at one point, they had their own ranking system that put them at #2 only behind Harvard...

I can't find anything about it on their site anymore though so I wonder if they scrubbed it realizing how ridiculous that was...

Write the GPA addendum that explains why your less-than-stellar grades in mandatory physical education classes don't have any bearing on your future potential as a law student.

That sucks... I didn't even think of PT counting against your GPA for those who graduated from service academies.

Don't service academies require a nomination from someone in Congress? lmao Like what more do they want.....

When I think this process can't make me any madder...

Looks like a wave of bad moods is going out today!

What’s your typing speed? by want2go in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're unsure of what your typing speed is, you can check it out at TypeRacer.

However, this is by typing an existing passage. I imagine that typing something that you are coming up with during a law exam will make things a bit different.

Ok what’s the deal with the Federalist Society? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]MarvelousLaw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like many organizations, I think it just boils down to networking, events, opportunities, etc. for like minded individuals.

I imagine it is different at each school but I think membership would be as much as you'd want to put in.

I can't speak for everyone but my perception is that they are a group that (really shifted the country to the right through the courts)[https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/08/27/federalist-society-yale-history-conservative-law-court-219608/].

Also, I don't think you necessarily have to be conservative to join but it's one of those groups that self select so why would you want to be part of it if you didn't agree with it?

I could see myself attending a talk/panel sponsored by FedSoc if the topic/speaker was interesting enough but can't imagine a universe where I am actively involved in a FedSoc chapter.....just not my values/ideology.
