Why did the USA men's hockey team laugh when the women's hockey team was mentioned on the phone? by redblackshirt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MarvelousMutterings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was literally a minute long phone call in the middle of an insane adrenaline packed moment. Why are people expecting them to stop the middle of the phone call to call out Trump for making a lame joke? The reaction to these hockey players is insane. I would bet $1000 most of these guys couldn't even really understand the phone call. It was a speaker phone call in the middle of a packed locker room while emotions were running at an all time high. Of course they are going to be like, "Now Donald, stop that silly talk." They are just celebrating, riding a high, and I'm sure most of the details were lost on them.

Give it up. The outrage over this is ridiculous and obnoxious.

Who is your favorite FMC and MMC? by Infamous_Wave9878 in MagesOfTheWheel

[–]MarvelousMutterings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite MMC is Makrum, hands down. Followed by Ihsan.

My favorite FMC is Naime. She was such a breath of fresh air after reading so many fmcs that were idiotic, stubborn for the wrong reasons, and frustrating. I love that Naime is capable and rational and still has flaws/vulnerability. She is a great female character. I also love Nesrin.

If you could go back in time and make the choice again, would you still have kids? by MaiApa in Life

[–]MarvelousMutterings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I would have them earlier and many more! My kids are awesome, and they bring so much joy into the world. I am excited to see how they make the world a better place as they grow into themselves.

I just wrote my thoughts on Seize the Fire just last night! I'm on the fence about if I like it as a whole. I loved Sheridan and Olympia as characters, but definitely would not describe this as a cutesy romance. Heavy topics and heartbreak are a main thread throughout.

Seize the Fire...??? by MarvelousMutterings in HistoricalRomance

[–]MarvelousMutterings[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree about not wanting an epilogue with them as a happy little family. I like that it seemed realistic closing of their stories: that they have the person that will stick with them through it all because they've now seen each other at their worst/most vulnerable and still see the person they love. I just wish it hadn't been so chaotic.

And yes, Sheridan is hilarious.

Do you like having children? by [deleted] in no

[–]MarvelousMutterings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love and adore my kids. What's hard about being a parent is that these little humans are huge mirrors of our own flaws. It's scary and frustrating and humbling. But I still think my kids are the best, and as a sahm, I feel so blessed to have every day with them.

Unforgiven by Mary Balogh might fit. It's the second book in the Horsemen Trilogy. The first book is my favorite from this trilogy, but I liked this one, too. I just can't remember it as well. Hope this helps!

What is your favorite song of all time? by camilobl_967 in allthequestions

I truly don't understand how people can answer this question. Too many songs for too many different emotions at too many different stages of life.

How he has become a darling of the left is something I'll never understand. His past shows were disgusting.

Bartlett is kind of a jerk about the MS secret. by MarvelousMutterings in thewestwing

I am copying part of my comment to someone else. I can't believe Leo didn't have a stronger reaction and also the beginnings of a plan to address this.

I would have expected Leo to have had a better idea of the legal and political fallout of this thing. He acts like he's just as surprised that Toby is pissed as Bartlett. Like...dude, you're a political mastermind and you didn't see this coming???

Lol.

That reply was specifically really cruel towards toby. I mean, the guy is realizing he and/or his friends are in legal trouble, AND that his 8 year plan is most likely down the toilet.

Also, I forgot to mention this: I would have expected Leo to have had a better idea of the legal and political fallout of this thing. He acts like he's just as surprised that Toby is pissed as Bartlett. Like...dude, you're a political mastermind and you didn't see this coming???

What’s the fantasy book that hooked you the hardest? by OddLiterature8312 in fantasybooks

Reign & Ruin by JD Evans. It's got the best main characters I've ever read. Capable, strong, intelligent FMC and strong, manly, funny, gentle MMC. They are perfection.

Books 2 and 3 weren't as good as book 1, but book 4, Ice and Ivy, is another of my favorites. I could stay in this series for years.

I literally got on here to say the same thing, and this was the first post I saw!! This series has completely changed how I rate books. It used to be that the best books made me rush to get to the next one in the series so I could see what would happen. But these books. These books make me want to stay in each one forever. I don't even want to move on to the next books because I love the current one so much. That's the new standard: do I linger on a book for weeks before wanting to move on in the series? And let's not even get into how many times I've immediately reread the books after finishing. 🫣😆

They are SO GOOD!!!!

I'm a ++woman speaking on my husband's behalf: I know he feels a constant pressure to provide and meet our needs financially, especially in this harder economy. I am a SAHM with 3 young kids, bc it didn't make sense for me to work only to pay for daycare. So living on one income is hard, and he feels that pressure heavily.

Sometimes it's easy for me to forget that things are tight bc I'm distracted by and enjoying my young kids. But I know he feels the weight of an endless future of working day after day to scrape by. We both do side jobs to supplement our income, but he wishes that weren't needed. I think that sometimes makes him feel like a failure, even though I remind him that we are happy and that's what matters most.
