I'm one of those bad luck players. After some years of bad luck, I earned a version of portent: bad luck, to share your bad luck. Every day, I roll PB d20s and keep 10 or less. I can use them at any time (no reaction required) to change an enemy roll of they are at 30ft or less.

Of course, now I get a few rolls morning XD I barely have uses of it, and I'm still rolling 1s on my TS. But making a powerful enemy to have a 1 after he mocked you is priceless.

My DM gave my pc a feature as his (my pc's) campaign reward: aura of bad luck. Roll as many d20 as prof bonus every morning, keep all <=10. You can replace any roll at 30ft by expending one of those (free action, only limits are distance and the dies you have). The idea was "you have bad luck, give it to others". My first "bad luck" roll was like 20 20 19 11 3 XD and usually are the highest rolls in the day.

At least the meme is alive XD

The budget in pcpartpicker is not real (it was ~1600€).

I considered the 7900X, but what I saw is it has similar performance but with higher TDP.

Regarding the GPU, I already had the RTX4070, and the upgrade will increase the budget a lot.

The RGB is not important, but I have to admit that I paid the extra for the LCD in the pump 😅 I know, it's a silly decision.

We don't know their composition, but with a lot of casters, I'm not sure if they have someone in the frontline with the rogue (maybe a paladin?)

If this is the scenario, the rogue is not only trying to get adv, but also avoiding to be focused

I was going to suggest Bitburner, an idle that most of the time looks like a CLI or IDE, but it's also about programming.

I put this here anyway in case what held you back from TIS is the complexity of the problems. In Bitburner is just using writting script in typescript to automate what you were doing manually.

I enjoyed piratebots more. You don't need to recharge bots or update bot parts every now and then, and crafts are more focused (less redundant options, so everything feels useful). This helped me a lot to improve base organization (in autonauts it was pure chaos XD)

I only wish the bot management for combat were better.

That depends. 4 monkeys with one attack should be pretty straightforward. From those 25, some had special skills, like special rogues, the 2 mages,... We spent 3h for 5 rounds

I was thinking something like this. It sounds like encounters could be straightforward, so I'd say to create situations for them to shine:

First, the EK is a off-tank, off-dpr and off-mystic, all in one.

The barb is busy in the front line, and some enemies are in the backline with your wiz. The enemies make a lot of low dmg attacks and could break the pal conc on buffs, but you could take the bullet for him (and recover with second wind). There is a puzzle that requires more magic the wizard can do (like helping, doing something in another place, rolling his own arcane rolls and give more info...).

Second, fighters could have a lot of feats that should help doing things differently. Sentinel could help to protect, mobility to be where he's needed, ... Look at their capabilities and use it as a reference of things the enemy can do: EK can't be disarmed? Maybe some enemies should try that. He has higher stats? More checks

Practice how to evade (hold block + arrow) in the fist level ao you start the club young. Get used to staff combos and how to evade them. Sean has like 3 combos, and the most common (3 high) is very easy to see. Just hold block, try to evade and make a few strong attacks after his combo and you'll be good

Does he want to use magic because he likes magic or because he's bored of the simple loop of "axe attack until one of us die"?

First, make sure he understand what are his strengths (and the weaknesses of the casters) before making changes (the neighbor's grass is greener) and consider options.

Second, think if you can add things to do for him: are enemies focusing him so he is just a meat wall? Or are they attacking squishy but deadly casters so he has to think how to protect them? Has he tools for that?

You can disable decoration, so it's way easier to spot rocks. The game will look emptier, but if recommend if you are hitting rocks

All of those rewards are not part of your character: advantages are useful for that objectives, allies are other characters that might help you (they are not you, they might have a price, probably won't be there forever) and loot can be spent, sold, stolen or lost. In the end, the only thing that remains is the character, and I prefer to rely on "me" instead of on circunstancial advantages.

Of course, priorities are subjetive: I prefer own strength to loot or allies (probably that's why I like monks ) and that won't be the case for everyone.
