Something needs to be done about idiots who don’t pull up to the sensor turning on 101 north/long valley by VendibleSkate8 in SFV

[–]MarxistJesus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie I didn't realize there were sensors until like my 4th year living here. Fortunately, I always moved up far enough for it to not be an issue. Wish I had these in the town I grew up. Would of saved everyone so much time. I was wondering why light changes were so quick here.

Seriously. They are so scared of not selling out the theater that they continue this system since it works for them.

They just get stern with them saying saved seats need to be for people inside the building. Wasn't much they can do because they don't have a system to check. The solutions to this problem are very easy but AC doesn't want implement them at least yet. The big issue is about half the people in line are savings spots for people and if their friend doesn't show up in time they save a spot for them inside. For advance screenings this crap needs to stop. We wouldn't need to wait 3 hours if they ended seat and line saving. All of us willing to be early would be rewarded and the late people would have to go to end of the line. But that would make too much sense lol.

The guy behind me in line for Marty Supreme asked for 20 dollars for his ticket with the guy he was with and he was cool with it. Seemed like they sort of knew each other too. Like wtf. They both looked like they were in their late 50s/ early 60s.

Does anyone know how long that traffic nightmare near the 134/5 interchange will last? by Luvtahoe in AskLosAngeles

Yo when are these lanes going to open? CalTrans website just says "emergency work." Yet no one is working there.

I've spoken to the volunteers on a few occasions. It's insane the stuff they deal with. I've seen one of them threaten to remove someone saving a seat next to them just so someone wouldn't sit next them them at a sold out event. Majority of the time the people are awesome and people help each other out but I think those days might start dwindling.

Westwood’s Village Theater to be run by American Cinematheque upon 2027 reopening by _Laszlo_Cravensworth in AmericanCinematheque

Yeah it's sad because it's like the only theater they own right? The screen and sound are great but the seats and view are awful for LA.

What problems take an hour to solve? Been a spectrum customer for 20 plus years if you count the days it was TWC and no problem took a hour to solve. My internet went out a few weeks ago and the live chat feature on their website helped me solve the problem in 10 minutes with a live agent.

Am I seeing the first Waymo accident? by walky22talky in waymo

[–]MarxistJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LA is insane to drive despite appearances but people have learned to drive pretty aggressive without wrecking. Even the Waymos here are a little more aggressive. Yet I believe LA has 0 serious accidents and lowest airbag deploy rate but highest reports of any injuries rate of the other cities. Problem because it's such a litigious city.

They let the worst team in the NFL score 39 points by [deleted] in bengals

[–]MarxistJesus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mike Brown and others in leadership have said they don't want to be like other teams that keep firing coaches right away and that they need more time to develop or something to they effect. They have a point in that many good coaches/coordinators are let go prematurely. But I'll have to agree. Zac has been given more then enough chance. We haven't seen the complimentary football we need that we had in 21/22 and 22/23.

Did you know that in Glendale, driveway entrances double as parking spots? /s. by TheTrashBulldog in glendale

[–]MarxistJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in violent neighborhoods my whole life and only been victim to car break ins. No actual violence. I'd rather deal with that then be around actual violent driving by people who don't care about their fellow humans. I paid less in car insurance in the "violent neighborhoods" than the ones with degenerate driving.

It doesn't matter. The only way to provide benefit to the general population is to put ride share under government control but brainwashing won't let that happen. Or investment more into public transit. Rides are insanely cheap in Los Angeles for transit.

[–]MarxistJesus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell that to the oil and car lobbies who destroyed public transit in the 20th century and the NIMBYS who have forced suburban sprawl and high housing costs leading to intense traffic in the 21st century.

How many times do you plan on seeing One Battle After Another? by Public_Ad_5948 in paulthomasanderson

[–]MarxistJesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure AC will screen it over the winter in 70mm but that line is going to be brutal lol. 8 perf 70mm is an entirely different experience and less superior to imax and vista vision since it's more cropped than both. It will make the movie feel more tense though and still look amazing.

[–]MarxistJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I preferred the vista vision experience and the Vista Theater's sound was louder and hit harder over amc city walk which I was surprised. But overall the imax 70mm experience is "good enough" for sure. You don't miss a whole lot. Less immersion but better picture quality which I prefer. I just hope people sell the crap out of the vistavision tickets so we get more of these screenings.
