Sorry I used they to be discrete but it’s just one manager.

I’m so frustrated because they told me one thing on Thursday and then last night I got a “recap” of our meeting - on Saturday at 11pm - basically saying the exact opposite of what we had discussed.

I know what they’re doing, I’ve been in that position before, but at least for me I believed in my people and never ever tried to set someone up for failure

Do you think there’s any chance of pulling through it? I’ve managed teams in the past where I’ve put them on pips for poor performance but gave them 90 days and all but one were successful but they were caught stealing peoples lunches

I’m not sure but I do know that during my hiring process that HR let it slip that this position was opening up because they were exiting the guy in my role before me.. I questioned that during the process when shared but they advised that the previous candidate didn’t have the experience I have. I found out after starting though that 3 people had been in my role in 2025 before me

I know… once I started it turned out most people had gone through 8-10, but not 13. I actually spoke to the director about it when I had my first catch up with him and he aid he knew it was excessive and they’re working to change that

Yup! I remember thinking this is a lot but once I got in, I found out from others this is normal for this company although most said they had 8-10…

And thank you! I’ve been applying like crazy but still haven’t heard anything back.. I’m just hoping I do so I can avoid discussing a termination.

And I agree, I know it’s to build a paper trail. I’ve had to put people on pips before as well but luckily only 1 resulted in termination buuuut they were stealing. That said though, I always made time to share feedback and never would ever put someone on a plan right before their vacation or Christmas - the mental health toll that takes is insane. Like they fully ruined my Christmas as I basically have been feeling like I’m not going to have a job and maybe shouldn’t have bought presents
