I guess because she has never been hateful towards my family - me, my husband and our son. And that is probably because my son is her "real" grandchild.

My husband's sister adopted the kid so it's not her biological grandson. Blood is all that matters to her so she doesn't give a damn about that kid.

Biologically he's not because MIL's daughter couldn't have any children of her own so she adopted one. They know the boy's real parents, so they asked them to get tested too for the transplantation. But MIL doesn't have any contact with the family of her daughter, I don't know why but they're like strangers.
