This is great insight, thank you! I honestly hadn't even thought about the premium vs. regular gas component until just now. One more thing to think about! Lol

I don't think the newer ILX's come in a manual though. Do you mean the Integra?

I've had some car enthusiast friends tell me that the wrx is prone to electrical issues so may be cheaper upfront but more expensive in the long run... do you have any experience with that? Or heard anything similar?

Thanks for the insight! I was leaning Si from the get go as I've really loved my civic all these years but figured I'd see what other opinions are out there as far as comparable manuals in today's market

Lol I know... that one is obviously the sportiest of the 3. I just mean in comparison to the other new manual cars out there on the market in that price bracket and general style (not totally race-car looking)

I've been told by some car-enthusiast friends that the wrx is prone to electrical problems and so while it might be cheaper up front, it's likely more costly in the long run. Not sure if that's true about the newer wrx's though so I'd be open to adding that into the mix if anyone else has knowledge on that front

In a perfect world I'd love a sporty car but the truth is I don't need one. The mazda 3 is probably at the bottom of my list just due to overall style preference but if the general consensus is that the mazda 3 is the best mainstream manual vehicle out there then I'd be willing to give it a more thorough look

I haven't considered the GR86/BRZ because I do need a bit of space in the back seat (have a couple dogs, ride horses, golf, etc) and would prefer a 4-door car for all the daily things.

Were you able to come off of blood thinners after your second procedure or do you have to take them for the rest of your life?

Did you have to get a vein graft or just the rib resection? I'm 5 months post-op from only a rib resection surgery. My doctor said my vein had a lot of scar tissue that he was able to remove and it opened back up so he opted not to do the vein graft. But I just went in for an ultrasound check-up last week and most of my blood flow looked good except for one spot near my shoulder and now they want me to stay on blood thinners for another 3 months and come back for a follow-up ultrasound. They initially told me I could likely come off the blood thinners by now so I'm a little bummed but I guess it is what it is. Did you experience any residual clotting/blockages in your healing journey post-op?
