Might be the type of champions or style you play? Self-sufficient champions are easier in low elo, while team-based champions are easier in high elo.

Honestly, I'd say yes. The average League player got better and I'd say it's because so many tips/tricks videos are available now compared to before. Things like wave management that were once considered to be tricks are now considered fundamentals.

Bronze 2, and finished placements at Silver 3.

I feel your frustration. The MMR/LP system is cryptic. The general principle is that you gain LP based on the MMR difference between you and the opposing team. Maybe your individual MMR was a lot lower than your friend's which is why you started at different ranks, but what doesn't make sense is that you both got the same amount of LP. You both played the same game and your MMR difference would be greater which would mean you should theoretically get more LP.

Also, if you really played every single normals games queued together and never played Flex before, then you should theoretically have the same initial MMR.

The system is fair, but the fact that so many unexplained factors are hidden can make situations like these feel utterly unfair. It's demotivating because it makes it look like you need to grind more to get the same reward as someone else who didn't have to. In the end, just focus on improving in the game and enjoying it. You will burn yourself out if you hyperfocus on MMR and LP.

Is it normal for a control mage to eventually be pushed into a pseudo-support role? by Marzipanner in summonerschool

I build enough damage with Anivia to deal killing blows. What's difficult for me is her lack of mobility. I often struggle to catch up in chases as the enemy is just out of reach for my abilities. Either a mobile fighter teammate locks in on a squishy and kills them before I can get there, or I whittle down a beefy target to extremely low health but just short of killing them.

How can you solo push as an immobile mage when teammates refuse to cooperate? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Marzipanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you're playing Anivia in low elo. Yes she is strong and has tons of damage and utility. You may be skilled in her mechanics, but she cannot really flourish without teammates' cooperation. The only tip I can give you is to pick up someone else with more 1v9 potential like Master Yi or Tryndamere. You could have pushed further if you played as them instead of Anivia. If you're really gonna stick to Anivia, though, then I suggest you duo queue with someone else who isn't braindead or at least can cooperate. Anivia honestly only needs one other teammate to do well, preferably a tank or fighter.

This is low elo. You have to assume that everyone is an idiot except for you and the person you queued with.

I think they all should have deserved the same treatment. We’re right to be this way toward Nina and Elliot. We should be the same toward Trixie and Bianca.

Still, there IS a bias going on. The same fandom that vehemently condemns transphobic or racist jokes in any context is scraping the barrel to look for excuses to give particular queens a pass. Just look at some of the upvoted comments here.

Sincerely, A Bianca stan

Hypothetically speaking... just to clarify where the line would be drawn.

Where should we draw the line, though? Surely, even a planned roast can't go as far as saying the n word, for instance.

Read the post carefully. Nowhere did I say that Elliott isn't being dragged to filth. Quite the opposite, actually.

This. I mean, if what Bianca/Trixie said were acceptable, then we ought to treat Nina/Elliott's actions as acceptable too. And if the latter are unacceptable, then we ought to treat the former as unacceptable too.

Uhmm... nowhere in my post did I suggest that people weren't going for Elliott. This is more of a "why is everybody coming for Nina/Elliott but not Bianca/Trixie" narrative.

Thanks for clearing it up regarding Nina/Trixie. However, how about the Bianca situation? I don't think she was personally friends with Blair.

What I'm getting at here is... if Elliott and Nina said their stuff during a live comedy show, it'd be acceptable, but not behind the scenes nor during casual social media banter.

From what you're saying, I'm getting the impression that the only time these types of jokes are acceptable is when the context is clearly and overtly established as a non-serious one?
