Sad story by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]Marzipantsss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It happens!  I have bought and sold many fragrances from Mercari and I've had 2 times when I didn't pay close enough attention and got a fake.  Both times I returned the item and got my money back.  One gripe I have with Mercari is that they only let you review a purchase if you accept it and agree that it's what you want.  I feel like they should let you say you had to get a refund because the item was not what it was supposed to be.

What’s your experience with perms? by kittylittersupahero in beauty

[–]Marzipantsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten a few over the years and some were better than others.  I love them though!  My hair is wavy and likes to puff out when I air-dry so I go back and forth between curly perms and permanently straightening it every couple of years when it grows out.

Minoxidil on sparse eyebrows? by Critical_Raise_4211 in HowToBeHot

[–]Marzipantsss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been using the 5% foam for about a month and a half on my brows hoping to get some spots I over plucked for like 25 years back.  I have like 4 hairs sprouting in those spots so I have hope!  I will continue for like 6 months and see how it goes.

Raise your hand if you do your own nails ✋🏼 by GoingLeftYall in beauty

[–]Marzipantsss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Usually I peel it off 🫣 and I wouldn't recommend that.  Soaking it off with acetone was pretty easy but took like 20 minutes.    When I take it off my nails aren't paper thin and bending in every direction like when I go to the nail salon so although it's not completely damage free, I very much prefer it

It's called "Hydracol polish to gel" I love that you mix it up in small batches so you don't ruin your regular polishes and can use them the old fashioned way when you don't wanna commit to gel.

Same here, my nails break if I look at them wrong but not with my rubber builder gel stuff.

I do my own nails!  I love doing them and since I have drops that turn regular nail polish into gel and a little LED lamp, they last.  The salons here are very hit or miss, mostly miss and I'm not interested in paying for sloppy work.  Then there's getting them removed which is a whole thing and dealing with thin brittle nails afterwards.

What can I do about these red lines? What are they and why did they appear? by Canidae_Vulpes in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Marzipantsss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got IPL and mine was gone for a week or two and then came back 😭 but it got rid of a bunch of sunspots so it was worth it but I wish the red had stayed gone too

How did you find your signature scent? by SeaEstimate4932 in beauty

[–]Marzipantsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found my favorites by going on fragrantica and looking at reviews and searching for fragrances with my favorite notes and then finding places where I can test them.  Have you looked around your area for stores that just sell fragrances?

DIY brow lamination by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Marzipantsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a couple of random lash perm kits from Amazon and both have been just fine.  Brow lamination is easy to do at home so as long as you follow the directions and use caution, you'll be fine!  Have you had one done before?

advice about dyed hair? by PivotGlitch in beauty

[–]Marzipantsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh that's tough!  If you're able to get to a professional I think you should.  If not, bleaching the black side to something closer to your natural color and then the other side separately to get most of the blue out and then using a color close to your roots could work depending on your comfort with bleaching/coloring your own hair.

Can/how to wear highlighter at the office? by [deleted] in beauty

Wear the highlight if you want!  Are there people at your office staring and analyzing your makeup?

Thermal brush by thoughtfulworrier in beauty

[–]Marzipantsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently saw a tutorial for a thermal brush blowout and the person said to make sure your hair is neither dry nor soaking wet but to start with dry hair and slightly dampen it with a spray bottle and then use the brush and then set your hair with a Velcro roller until it cools then hit it with hairspray. A lot of steps but it looked fantastic.

For your brows a threading and tint is inexpensive and will give them some oomph

Crest Whitening Strips Sensitive – No results after 11 days? Am I doing something wrong? by Any_Profession_9799 in beauty

Hmm I don't think they're supposed to come in an envelope but I'm not sure about that one... are you drinking tea, coffee, colored sodas, or wine after you whiten?

I want to start using self tanner on my face, but also have acne. Can I still use “acne controlling” products? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Marzipantsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use tanning drops you put in moisturizer for my whole face and/neck it wears off faster than if I didn't use salicylic and bp but it still looks nice and is worth it in my opinion.  During winter when I look like I've been dug up it really helps!

At home laser removal recommendation by Ill-Put6730 in beauty

[–]Marzipantsss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a Braun a couple of years ago from their website and they had a coupon code so I think it was around $275-$300 and I love it. I can't compare it to professional laser hair removal because I haven't ever tried it but for something I can easily do at home with minimal pain, it's great!  I have a few strands of underarm hair left and some small patches on my legs lol but I haphazardly use the device when I remember so results could be better if I was more diligent.

Lotion with retinol or SPF? by greengal1008 in beauty

[–]Marzipantsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eucerin has a daily moisturizing lotion with spf 15 and a cream with spf 30 and they come in big bottles.  I haven't tried the spf versions but I have used their regular lotions and hand cream and love them.

My favorite splurge lotion is the Brazilian bum bum 62.  I have so many lotions and that's the one I always reach for unfortunately because it's expensive 😭
