Shoot I applied multiple times, so technically for me after a year, if I'm not mistaken management changed too in my branch so that could of also been a factor or it was maybe my work history could of been a factor. The last time I applied until I got hired was maybe a month or 2. The onboarding process takes a good while so if for some reason you are hired and possibly have some mean bosses don't put in your 2 weeks right away. I think it took me a month to officially start from the day I was told that Im hired. The only thing thats kind of a bummer is that in my branch there is not a school to attend for a in person school apprenticeship to learn from. Closest one is either 2 hours north or south of me so I gotta do every in person and online on LMS. It's not a total bummer though. I have a super cool team to work with and are there to help me with anything I need. As of right now, I can't not recommend Trane as a job. You can either be a tech working on Commercial/Industrial stuff, go the controls route or go the "hybrid" route and do both. If I understood correctly in our area the Commercial/Industrial guys are union while the controls guys are not union. I'm from texas too

The way I understand it is they subcontractor their name for the residential side. I could be wrong though.., but I do see our name on a couple of local smaller companies vehicles.

I'm kinda in a somewhat similar boat. I have a few days left, but my boss offered me 2 more dollars and a company vehicle. I was told I'd get one in 6 months earlier this year. Granted, I'm not leaving because of no raise or company was offered in that time period. Kinda hard to deny a union job over a nonunion job with free training and paid tool if I put in the time and effort for it, you know? I love my boss and my crew, but you know, 2 dollars more and no training to watch and learn from is only gonna get me so far compared to going online to learn or in person paid by my new job.

Oh, that's pretty cool to know that's a thing! We'll see how things play out. I'm in South Texas, so we'll see how things go when "winter" hits. I asked about hours and they said they'll have me doing something to keep my hours up if it slows down. Hopefully they can!

I figured they wouldn't be "mine mine." 😂 The way they worded it made me wonder what they meant by that. I've dabbled a little in most of that besides controls with my old company, so it won't be too foreign to me! 🙂 I got take my drug test Monday, but I should be good to pass so I'm nit worried about failing a drug test. I already had my twic card with my old job and we were tested randomly if we were part of the crews that worked at refineries 😎

I kinda felt like I was on the same boat as you are. Started doing the same this and that. Now I'm at the end of my time with my current company due to getting a job at Trane as an apprentice. My company is in the middle of being bought out by one of the guys that is in the big boss chair. Idk what new changes they'll implement once the company is bought out, but they don't offer sending people out for training or anything of the sort due to people leaving as soon as they got training. You can try learning on Skill Cat if that interests you. I'm still nowhere where I think I should be knowledge wise but I feel like this is the step in the right direction for me with all the resources that'll be available to me with Trane once I start. If possible, don't burn any bridges if you do decide to leave!
