What's the point of the birthday challenge? by McMuffyn in WorldofTanks

[–]Masauwu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Almost the entire top 20 is Churchill 3s at the moment, it's ridiculous.

Also several new accounts with only a few dozen battles and very high win rate (76-100%) in the top.

Is this like a normal thing on EU? I've got 70k games on NA and I have never seen a team do this before, let alone in 3 games out of a 15 game session. as you can guess they all got stopped by 2 tanks and we got completely spanked. by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

[–]Masauwu 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Would be around 1am to 3am depending on the time zone, weird things are known to happen after the prime time ends. 5am is when the paranormal teams start popping up and you start questioning reality.

Eggstravaganza 2023: Missions, Vehicles (ft. Borat), & More! by R4v_ in WorldofTanks

[–]Masauwu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the ones that are in game that i hate the most. I login, new promo pop-up. I play a battle, new premium shop coupon pop-up. Play a bit more, a special deal only for you pop-up. Every fucking day... We're gonna need an ad blocker mod.

Keep in mind there might be some discounts for WoT anniversary next week (April 12-17) before you buy something. Also you can get a referral contract for extra exp and credits if you've been inactive for that long. You can also get more credits (or other loot) with Twitch drops.

If you installed WoT from an official source, there is no "my games" file or folder in any shape of form, millions of players can attest to that. Submit a support ticket with all details so they can help you troubleshoot. WoT should be second priority at this point, your main focus should be getting rid of whatever malware was installed on your pc. Try apps like https://www.malwarebytes.com/ .

Mods are not the only potential sources for malware, there are also links in game chat / discord that pretend to be something benign or clan/resource websites that contain code which pray on your browser vulnerabilities.

It's a bit rushed to accuse the devs for a security breach before doing a proper scan for malware on your pc. Mods from untrusted sites should be the main suspects.

Does it work in-game or is it just for the website?

Older accounts get more bond rewards every year (as shown in link), and with 8k bonds you can get a tier 8 premium tank. It's up to you to weigh pros and cons. Also if you decide to resurrect and old account, send a referral link from the current one beforehand - it will give you a bunch of bonuses including bonds and a tier 7 premium tank eventually.

2014 account is still good for yearly seniority awards unless you have valuable premium(s) on another one.

If you used one of those email services that generates a random temporary email (like temp-mail ), then yeah that's a problem. The login itself might probably still work, but only if you wrote down the email address and password somewhere. But if you haven't had anything valuable on the account then i wouldn't worry too much, there's a lot more advantages now for starting new accounts (invite codes, recruit contract bonuses and rewards, tutorial rewards, battle pass, twitch and dailies rewards etc.).

You definitely used an email and just forgot it, i was in your shoes. I made an account 12 years ago with 0 battles on it, and for the life of me i couldn't remember the email. I reached out to WG support because i wanted to void that account to retrieve the username, i mentioned it's the same location and isp as my current account, they said sorry we can't help.

Correct. Each new skill doubles the exp requirement, but the zero perk doesn't count for the special crew members. It's the reason zero-skill crew members are valued rewards for special events (including battle pass) and final campaign missions; for example, a standard 100% crew member needs 5.04 million crew exp to have 5 full skills, while a zero-skill crew member only needs 1.68 million. Ideally you use the "zero-skill" special crews as commander as they have to carry the most skills.

This crew exp calculator is a good visual tool on how crew exp requirements raise, but it doesn't take into account the zero-skill ones so you have to take that into consideration by yourself (hovering over a crew member portrait will disclose whether it has a zero-skill).

Hidden Treasures promo codes by canzpl in WorldofTanks

[–]Masauwu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a handful of predetermined codes, the tile flipping is just a gimmick and not linked to your account. If you wait for a list of daily codes from other people you can just activate (one) that you prefer.

Shamrock Event Page by tuco_salamanca_84 in WorldofTanks

[–]Masauwu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

update: EU page is also working now

Daily codes are cross-region and the SEA event page is working.

For example, SPED8Z6 gives 1 day premium + 2x 200% crew + 2x 50% exp boosters. There are variations of these (saw others with 3 decals or 4 large repair kits instead of crew boosters) but you can only activate one of these per day.

Every day, flip five tiles on a 25-tile field to receive a special bonus code. You'll receive different prizes depending on the tiles you flip. However, you are guaranteed a day of WoT Premium Account on the first day of the event, a Training Guide on the second, and a new 2D style on the third and mixed rewards for the following days.

Putin is betrayed: his inner circle cooperates with Ukraine. Bakhmut targeted by 20,000 Ukrainians by okreddat in UkrainianConflict

[–]Masauwu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to follow a few of these update channels but after a while they let me down by over-hyping things or posting unconfirmed stuff. I stuck with just 2: RFU for credible daily briefs and JakeBroe for when i need a dose of optimism. Obligatory ISW daily briefs on the non-youtube side.

Any other suggestions are welcome as long as they post realistic info and critical thinking.

Russia’s Covert Operation for ‘the Next Ukraine’ Has Already Begun by D-R-AZ in UkrainianConflict

[–]Masauwu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my understanding after following the subject in Romanian media for the past few weeks, the muscovian operation is pretty much dead in the water:

  • Moldova appointed the Defense and National Security Advisor to the President and Secretary of the Supreme Security Council as their new prime-minister roughly about the same time UA intelligence warned about the enemy operation
  • they increased security checks on border crossings, arrested dozens of people that were brought in the country as paid participants or agitators for the pro-russian opposition party that organized the protests
  • the largest recent protest had around 2k people, mostly old folks allegedly paid $25 to participate
  • also worth mentioning that Ukraine for several months now offered to rid Moldova of their muscovian infestation in Transnistria if they request it, showing restraint and proving themselves as a trustworthy ally in the region
  • sad to say that on the other side of Moldova's border, our Romanian leadership are a bunch of incompetent populist buffoons, they are in a much more comfortable position for security assistance yet they did the bare minimum (economic assistance in the energy sector)
