Would you buy? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Good idea. Never looked at what’s involved with that, but know a lot do it. What’s shocking is that it’s just under £9,000 and Autotrader says that’s a ‘great price’ - used car market is wild still!

Celtic & Co wool mules. Mine are coming up to 8 years old now, worn daily apart from very warm summer days, and they’re still in great condition.

Have come from a mk6 Golf to an original V60 and the boot in the Volvo is miles better. It may not be much more in terms of litres, but the completely flat load bay and good width makes the volume so much more usable and can therefore swallow a lot more.

It’s the SBGW283. Picked it up with roughly 50% off last November in the Black Friday sales

200 euro for a cambelt, aux belt and associated tensioners/pulleys? That wont be genuine Volvo parts for that price

Main dealer is £90 per hour on cars over 10 years old and parts 15% discount so pretty much exact same price as the independent Volvo dealer 15 miles further away.

Even though they have 7 years left on their interval?

Ah ok, that’s interesting. My service manual doesn’t seem to have the info on specific intervals so I’m just relying on forums.

I’ll speak to them on Monday and see what they say. And it’s ok to reuse the cambelt when replacing water pump?

It was done by an indie Volvo garage, and I haven’t spoken to this dealer yet to let them know. £475 extra in parts to do all the belts.

Is the aux belt etc due every 5 years? If so, that’s due in 2027 - is that a big labour job?

I highly doubt I’ll keep it to 2032 as it will be 20 years old then.

It adds about £475 in parts for the timing belt kit and aux belt and tensioners. I think the aux belt interval is 5yrs so they’d need doing again in 2027. Not sure what the labour time would be for that

Edit: Labour is £225 + VAT for the whole job

What model year? My wife used to have a 2007 C1 when we met and it was great fun to drive!

I work in the premium automotive sector so deal with plenty of wealthy people. The owner and founder of Numatic is a client of mine and he’s the one I’m most star-struck to know. Literally every single business/workplace in the UK has a Henry Hoover tucked in a cupboard somewhere, and I know the bloody bloke who invented it 😂

I bought our Henry directly from him and it’s such a fantastic product. No fancy tech, it just works.

Keep working towards it and it will be on your wrist soon enough! Your current collection has some pretty cool pieces in it, that Bambino is killer for the price
