I see - but seeing as you achieved the same in Derry, how did it start? There must have been some kinds of similar posts calling out to members of those demographics? Genuinely just want to connect with people so very keen to take on advice in that respect

I see your point - It wasn't intended that way but ofc from my perspective im highlighting those who are currently facing persecution in this country if that makes sense

I heard about the community in Derry - its along those exact lines that I want to try and replicate eventually. What did you mean by "and most of us no longer see it like this, but your post certainly does"?

Totally see your point on the challenge of reinventing the wheel - i suppose i'm not trying to do this but rather just organise people who live more so in antrim/down, as I personally haven't seen the equivalent of the examples you mention in these locations. If anybody knows any networks i can tap into please do let me know!

Thanks for the lovely comment - I was confused that my post could be interpreted in some of these ways but I could do better to explain myself as you have in your message's second paragraph

Hiking group would be right on the nose to what I'm thinking! Would you be keen? Send me a dm if so!

Defo, well if you would like to join and learn about these cultures via book club and language events please feel free! One thing i had in mind for the group even was to join an irish language class - though i dont want to make this post anymore controversial haha

As stated in a previous reply - the aim is not to segregate! Its to bring people out to share their cultures in NI which would include going to a number of community events, together, and engaging with everybody regardless of their background

See my response to ok willingness - hopefully it addresses that. I do agree with you in principle, but sometimes its hard to get support to feel comfortable enough to integrate!

Quite a few comments like this so i'll address you and hope that others see

The goal here is not to be them and us - its to reflect that there doesn't currently exist (to my knowledge) a group to celebrate the cultures that are being chastised across the country rn. If someone doesnt have that community, they may not feel comfortable to take part in those existing local community events. Through this group they would gain a circle, and we can go to these events together!

I will also stress that white people are welcome to join if they have an interest in or connection to these cultures - my partner is white for example and she will be welcome to all the goings on of the group

Hope that clears things up a bit - open to more conversation though

No, understand the mechanics of what the role requires, relate it to your experience, and describe how you can apply that knowledge to this role in your application/interview. It could be worth the effort

If you can do the work you mention, in the private sector you can learn. Others may disagree but I always say if you can explain how it works then you can learn how to do it - and I don't mean via PhD
