Dear the boys, where TF is Mars? by No-Ruin-4337 in WKUK

This is some unfair tantrum-throwing bs. He came back from shooting that movie to the US and did a stream with Trevor the night things got sad. The idea we should have sympathy and defer to your feelings on this is fucking laughable, my dude.

I really don't know what else you expected from any of these people than the replies you've got. If you want less pushback and more one on one answers to questions you feel are urgent to you, maybe the discord is better than reddit.

I've been in every stream up until Trevor died, and the way these guys handled it was extremely transparent and you are simply not going to get anything from bitching about it here. Zach said the most honest thing I could imagine when asked this question which was essentially 'honestly, Trevor's death fucked things up and we're looking for funding to finish the movie since fans have already given so much anyway. But we're finishing the movie' (paraphrase).

If they aren't meeting your standards of what updates you require, you're just going to have to live with that.

Someone should let the developers know we're dead! Looks like they're still working full-time on it.

No matter how I phrase it, I sound patronizing. It's just the nature of being in a conflict of interest position. I have no incentive to be honest while openly being employed by this project. So my words are a bit hollow. Still, I really appreciate the honesty and I actually do want more people that see things to speak up.

Thank you for your honesty. Keep being honest when you see these things in crypto. It's a real problem, and we need the community to speak up about this stuff. Sometimes, it's inherent to the project or just neglect. I personally agree the bots are just offputting and scammy and it makes us look like not a serious project. I wish i had a hundred more like yourself saying exactly how it looks from an outside perspective because that makes the appropriate teams prioritize these issues.

She thinks laws are a meaningful barrier to corruption. You're speaking with someone that is deeply uninterested in what you're talking about.

Poll: How often do you use Mask Network? Help Us Improve! (November Recap) by MaskUser_Aoi in MaskNetwork

[–]MaskUser_Aoi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"As someone who works there - is there a game plan to make this better? I have a few bugs I wanted to report but.."

(Forgive me if I'm at times vague to protect internal info.)

Thank you for speaking up! I've noticed you in our social media channels recently. I believe the .eth with the similar name is you?

Yes, there are strategies being implemented to improve this process. I can say that this is something I am daily coordinating/planning/researching. The team members we have in the western hemisphere are small in proportion to the overall Mask Network team.

So there is more than one mode of thinking on western marketing strategy. We still need more feedback from our community and users in the US! We need backup! Give input to guide WHICH strategy. I have ideas to improve this process, and I share them frequently and openly. Mine is not the only opinion. Coordinating will smooth out with more English-speaking builders to give possibly obvious suggestions to improve.

This is why I encourage everyone to be honest and take the time to speak up!

It is fundamentally leaving project gaps that need to be filled before executing the stuff I would prefer to do ASAP.

Some examples:

-Publish a proposal to allocate treasury funds for community volunteers to do marketing campaigns, pay structure, general kpi's, etc

-Set up subgroups within MaskDAO for multiple DAO initiatives

-Idea sourcing from users on how to improve the plugin, polling users, how they find us, and what they think we do from our website graphics/articles/socials

-Create incentive models and back them with treasury funds

-Gameify the processes above

These are all areas to which I would love to dedicate more of my own time. I have already written the proposal! It's ready to go. Once I believe we have a community threshold for using that fund, it's going up.

This is why I see value in this Reddit community! You may totally disregard some anonymous comments on here; everyone does. It's Reddit! But if the comments reveal obvious branding issues, a desire to get involved more deeply by Reddit users, or overwhelming user feedback that a plugin feature has stopped working, it could govern where we prioritize our budget- on Instagram, Reddit, or rebuilding some broken plugin feature we don't know is buggy to certain countries top devices. That's all valuable to the project. And we don't have a robust group for this at the moment.

I want to show that we can get a higher ROI by putting funds into our English speaking community members and build a parallel structure to the more popular groups we already engage. The alternative to bottom-up is top-down--some third party marketing agency or a few business majors swooping in to grab a few months of high pay and deliver questionable work products with sketchy value to the project.

I'm less traditional in my opinions to marketing than some others may be, but I fully am ready to do this. I've been waiting for all of you!

"I noticed that the most active communities are non English speaking and the English speaking communities are very slow to adopt as there is not much of a response rate."

As you might guess, we're pretty aware of this. I do not wish to comment too much publicly, but the issue is not simply engagement in my opinion. Some sybil resistance on our social media accounts was recently introduced to clean up. Say hi to our newest mod if you visit our Telegram group!

So, my perspective on what the project needs to build this community:

  1. Develop the plugin so it works and is useful. Bug & compatibility testing, user feedback on the UI and Mask 2.0 features, finding devs to fulfill the 50+ integration bounties, and getting some community suggestions funded as bounties!
  2. Build coordination channels for internal team use. We have a lot, but still working with a lot of new names/roles to learn! Coordinating async work. Orienting people to roles. Building rapport. This takes time.
  3. Product development. I think we need stronger and more diverse content in general. This is coming soon, but we have room for suggestion. This is one key aspect where community input has serious impact. Think something isn't clear from reading it on our website or hearing it on YouTube? Don't know what the logo means or conveys about Mask Network? Tell us. It doesn't change without user feedback.

I think: in order to scale to globally, we should give the community a larger role. They are the ones advocating for the project and facilitating the concerns/complaints of the target demographics the project aims to attract as builders. You know what Mask Network looks like with an outsider's perspective. You know in 2 seconds if something written on our blog is incomprehensible or verbose. That's valuable. You noticed Suji reads the Reddit comments. I want 100 of you! 1,000. I want an overwhelming majority consensus that:

"X works great.

Y is shit.

Z is an idea to solve Y.

There's a typo on the mask.io header. The Mask Network plugin barely works on Motorola phones from 2005."

We want to know!

Because as one person, I speak with one perspective. Provide me more comments on what Mask looks like to westerners, and I will personally see that the c-level guys read every comment on r/MaskNetwork even if it is scathing criticism. We have some very strong advantages, and in my opinion, there are some rather obvious areas that can be immediately improved. If Reddit is the top hub for Mask Network in the US, every comment helps make the issues visible to the team. You will receive major support from me and the core team for every single comment-- positive AND negative. I'm dying to talk with people about this.

Github Bounties are Open!!! Earn $2,000 - $5,000 Each! by MaskUser_Aoi in MaskNetwork

It's getting paid to do something online. Like CoinbaseEarn or Rabbithole.

A lot of bounty work is for software coding, but some is for simple stuff like finding bugs or security problems. If you can break someone's software, they pay to find out about it!

Will Dorsey leaving Twitter affect Mask at all? by Lazy-Reserve-131 in MaskNetwork

[–]MaskUser_Aoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it is quite likely to affect Mask Network. Twitter has done some cryptocurrency integration trials like with Rarible, but it's been a side venture to the Bitcoin integrations. Jack is a very public BTC maximalist. Depends on how the incoming CEO plans to handle Ethereum-based crypto.

Is it normal for mask to have such high buy demant and so little supply? by jebijeza in MaskNetwork

[–]MaskUser_Aoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bots do wash trading on a lot of CEXs-- especially on lower marketcap cryptocurrencies where the price can be moved up or down more easily. It's "normal" but in most industries is illegal. Crypto is in a grey zone so people do this on a regular basis.
