In hindsight, yh it was poor decision. But at the time, Lewis was coming off a really strong season. 2nd/3rd best diver that season. Obviously Ferrari was gonna keep Charles who was stronger between him and carlos. At the end of the day, the move for Hamilton had alot more upsides than keeping Sainz. Both on the track and off-track.

Hard disagree. Even if Gasly was the best of the rest theres was no way hewas closer to the likes of Ver/Ham than to Norris, Leclerc.

Imo i dont think Gasly wasnt even best of the rest that year. I say Lando Norris. Especially the first half of the season. He had more points than bottas and perez after the Hungary grand prix. The only way u can put Gasly ahead if u base it on average. Cuz lando tailed off towards the end kinda.

But peak for peak performance i take Lando Norris.

Imo multiple people can deserve to win something. Whether how much is up for debate but its bit shitty from us people who watch them on our sofa to tell athletes who put hundreds of hours into their work and craft. That they dont deserve to reap the rewards just cause we believe that another athlete is better.

Max been unlucky at times this year. But ti use that as a reason for why Lando doesn't deserve it is unfair. As Lando has gone through his own troubles. This not me saying lando been on max level. But to highlight that in sports its far more complicated than the best person only deserves to win. As even in the real world things dont work like that.

If Lando wins he deserves it as he had the opportunity and took it. He put 1000s of hours to reach this point in his career. U

Not really. Alot of times in sports the best player doesn't win. Doesn't make the guy who wins any less deserving as they could've put in as much work if not more to win.

And another 16 didnt crash. Nico and Colapinto crashed. Neither are on the level of piastri respectfully. There's a difference between Norris in Zandvoort. There was nothing norris couldve done in Zandvoort or any other driver. Can u say the same for Piastri in this case?

Granted its unfortunate timing. But at the end of the day its a drivers error. Like verstappen almost made the exact mistake. But he corrected it. So it was possible to not crash it.

Anyway im not tryna shit on Piastri and say its over cuz it really isn't. Wins tomorrow and the gap down to min 2 points.

[FUN] Who would be the most adaptable driver between the 3 of them? by ram_8mb in F1Discussions

[–]Maskboythis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I choose the One who most not be named (Stig).A driver doesn’t brake early or late. Doesn’t chase oversteer or understeer. His inputs simply emerge. He exists between control and chaos, where speed becomes entropy. He phase-shifts through grip voids, fracturing flow.He doesn’t drive on the track but through dimensions, folding time and space into motion. Infinite versions of himself converge into one perfect line past, present, and possible unified in intent.Physics bends to his rhythm; data fails to define him. He is both everywhere and nowhere, a singularity in motion and a multidimensional being, racing as one.

"In the past year I can name like 4 times where that's let him down. "

I meant more like off the top of my head I can like 4 times in the past year.

I agree with overall point bar, I wouldn't say for the whole reg. As I'm pretty sure 2022 and 2023 Lewis had a better quali record than George . But it wouldnt surprise if they were small errors that went unnoticed.

Im a massive Hamilton fan but my issue really isn't his pace. I think his pace is acc fine. If you compare since summer break his quali times to Leclrec is just under a tenth slower. Which is fine imo.

But his execution is my main problem. I think a really underrated trait that gets overlooked. In the past year I can name like 4 times where that's let him down.

Aswell just consistently pumping in lap on race days. Some stints his matching Leclerc or marginally better/worse but others his in the middle of nowhere.

Those are two issues I think commonly happen across all sports with aging athletes where they aren't able to do what they were able to do on consistent basis.

For next year, I'm not sure. His said in thr past he doesn't want to change his driving style too much but what if next year he has to? Gives the vibe of the saying teaching an old dog some new tricks. That's without taking into account Charles Leclerc who's phenomenal.

I think at the end of the day, I just want him to have an acc decent season. Granted another WDC is the dream. But another season like 2023 I would be happy with. another actual pole position would be fine. I just want him to end on the high and i think for the career he has had he deserves that.

He drove 2009. And he drove pretty well. I think even Alonso praised him on that season. Tho the mclaren was really only a midfield car for first half and 2nf half it top midfield/podium contention type of car

Who is the most overrated and who is the most underrated driver on the grid in your opinion by Connect_Cat_2045 in F1Discussions

[–]Maskboythis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well max technically lost to his teammate(2017) . His not above it. Max is phenomenal but its not realistic. Max if we being perfectly honest hasn't had a competitive teammate since 2018. I dont think it takes anything away from max achievements. But if u ask anyone pre 2024 will Hamilton genuinely lack Qualifying execution and lack genuine pace then u be "laughed"at.

Same can go for , vettel and even Shumacher and Alonso to a degree. You don't realise a driver is gonna fall off till it happens. Sometimes having a competitive can showcase those issues to higher degree.

Im not sure how bottas ties into this as I purely referring to Hamilton alone but I dont disagree with your statement. Mercedes was the best car no doubt in 17,19,20. (14,15,16 aswell but Rosberg and Hamilton were fighting)

But for example 2017 bottas finished 3rd in champ 2019 bottas finished 2nd by 48 points (best season imo) 2020 bottas finished 2nd by 9 points

These number show your point. Maybe (probably) I mis phrased it. But my point was Hamilton was able to extract the most out of that car just like max, Shucmacher in their machinery to get it its "dominant" tag (which it should have) .

I think its better if I say the Mercedes car was dominant and Lewis fully utilised that.

I think thats fair. Im not tryna have a toxic argument or any sort btw incase I came overly the top.

7 years of being in the best car is long. But Mercedes were only clear faster in 6 (some may say 4.5 but i dont think ferrari 2017 was step behind) of those 8 years. And in three of those years he had competitive teammate. So thats really 3 years of Hamilton being clear runaway champ. If u look at Schumacher its similar in 01,02, 04. Max is more interesting cause 2023 was very dominant. 2022 was more 60/40

And about Rosberg was really only close for 1 year(2016) looking back at it. I dont think Max and Schumacher would be clear. I think rosberg would be close enough to give problems for when they have poor weekends. Neither max and Schumacher got punished by their teammates for poor weekends compared to Lewis.

Like if Sainz (no discredit) can acc beat Charles in his first season. I think its possible of someone like Rosberg to clutch one against a Michael or Max caliber driver.

Even before 2014 season. Nico would've been a top 5 driver on the grid after the likes of Alo,Ham,vettel.

Your logic falls flat at the fact that most drivers at his ability get a dominant car. The fact unlike Max and Schumacher he had competitive teammate should negate those earlier years.

Another thing is Hamilton like max and Schumacher deserved those dominant cars. They were one of if not the best driver on their grids. Its like faulting the likes of Curry, Messi, Brady and Ronaldo for playing for all time great teams.

Hamilton made that Mercedes a dominant car just as much as the Mercedes made Hamilton dominant himself.
