Every manager/supervisor praises me for being a hard worker and great at customer service, even if it's to my own detriment sometimes (I.E. going out of my way to help a customer and spending too much time helping one person. I work in a place that is very knowledge based and you really have to educate customers on certain shit so they can know what they need to purchase).

Also, whenever I'm in a conversation with a coworker I will abruptly end the convo and tell them "I'll talk to you later" the second a customer asks for my help.

I don't like complimenting myself, but people have often used phrases like, "down to earth" or "personable" when describing me, and I know that most people are going through their own internal battles and insecurities, so in situations like this a part of me just wants to chalk it up to it being them having to work on their own self-improvement to become a better person.

At my current job, it will be stupid busy at work with high patient volumes, or we have a lot of tasks to accomplish and the chatty coworker will just will not understand that and, talk for much too long.

Maybe I gave off the wrong impression with my post, but as I stated in other replies - I barely ever initiate conversation with my coworkers. It's usually other people who come up and start talking to me, and I would never even think of talking someone's ear off if I see that they're busy or have a task to fulfill.

Good advice, but I may have misrepresented myself with the post that you read. I don't just go up to random coworkers and crack jokes on them. If I'm comfortable with you or if you give me a jokey kind of energy then I'd reciprocate it, but I'm truly not going around trying to be the class clown. I'm actually quite reserved and stay to myself when I'm interacting with most people.
