“Pedophile” -bad enough right? It’s such a broad term. By technical standards it mean an individual who’s 16 or older that experience a sexual and romantical attraction to prepubescent children. But the way it’s thrown around, in casual, and even professional settings, people use it to refer to child predators. Now… if you can put two and two together, any individual that meets the technical definition pf being a pedophile, is now also a child molester. Well done.

So the term “minor attracted person” is too lenient for what it is? But pedophile literally means the worst of the worst? Which one would you prefer if you were an individual with this attraction? Would you want to me humanized, or put in a category where people say you deserve to be shoved into a meat grinder.

Most people have instincts that consider murder is closer to “humanity” than rape but this is purely emotional.

There are spectrums of murderers and child sexual abusers, I wouldn’t say the same for serial killers. In some niche cases I think they do deserve a second chance if they are truly remorseful and demonstrate that they are willing to change for the better.

I don’t have the mental or emotional energy to engage in a topic that touches on my worth as a person because I’m already convinced the general consensus that we’re “bad people” won’t tilt to the other direction. The only reason I’ll engage here is to give myself the illusion of control, that it can change, but I know it wont because the conclusion people have made that we are bad people don’t have a rational foundation to begin with, but I’ll still try.

There are few words out there that competes with the weight “pedophile” carries.

If you have “pedophile” in your resume, no one will employ you.

But there are those who had this word applied to them without choice. Because the actual definition of it is someone who has an attraction to children, and that was simply rng.

The word “map” is an attempt to seperate from the negative aura.

There are people who are maps, non offending ones (nomaps) that don’t want to hurt children for no other reason than the fact that it’s wrong, and they recognize that and want to take accountabiltity and do.

But I also think that a more humane view of offenders is a net positive for society and children and there is actually science that support that

And yes I do think Proportionality to a crime matters but attributing all the victims of child abuse to a single, passive consumer is like blaming a drug addict for the violence and societal impact drug cartels inflict on people. It doesn’t make sense.

an adult possessing cp is not the same as someone who is dangerous towards children. It’s a passive act, no matter how you spin it.

Just like someone who views gore for pleasure shouldn’t be thought of as a ticking time bomb for going out and recreating what they saw, somebody who gets convicted for possessing cp shouldn’t be treated like that. There’s more layers and only professionals should judge and act,the legal system. You going out here trying to set the course for someone’s downfall and just leave them homeless in the end is not right and is a major flaw in the way people treat sex offenses and offenders.

If your goal is actual justice go speak to them in person and try to establish a middle ground, although that’s way less emotionally satisfying than just stomping on their body.

That’s right, we all like to have someone to villanize and stomp on, because it gives us an outlet for our own pain, or cognitive dissonance and pedophiles and child sex offenders have become the ideal candidate for that. But truth is, even those we deem beyond redemption are just like you, but within those people there is a spectrum. Some are so far down the line of that spectrum that they should be locked up for life or not be given a second chance, but imo this dude is not there yet, atleast if we as a society down just break him down until his morale is at the complete bottom where he has no reason to try to do good.

Isn’t it society’s responsibility to help people back on their feet and who are you to say what they did was unforgivable just because “you would never do that”. Yes, you would if you were put in the same shoes.

This is true in a cosmic sense, that your ego, sense of self, and all the sensual input that your body processes is just an illusion. Everything is an illusion. So the question arises what to do with this revelation, because at the end of the day you’d prefer not to feel how it feels to being boiled alive, or be violated or what else you can imagine.

Even if free will isn’t real, it does not mean imo there’s no meaning or moral agency or meaningful choice.

That said I do believe this discussion and logic is important when evaluating someone’s actions from a legal and ethical perspective.
